LA cyl head challenge !!

Thats a very STELLAR # for an LA indeed

The guy who is going to port the shockers has not looked at the heads yet...so I have no idea how much improvement ( if any ) can be made...I did purchase a few extra intake valves so that he could play with valve angles/cuts and see if there is any improvements to be found

Sounds good keep us updated

Define best performing, as in what is the application? What works good in a Marine build may not in a mud truck.

Gun to my head, I would likely pick the reworked Bloomer heads now that Vic has redone them personally. The fact that he did them is all i need to know to place them at the top.
Second choice would be airwolfs. They went 3 mph faster than Trickflows did on back to back tests in very similar conditions on the same car a buddy has. Typical bracket type stroker deal

So in the world of small block Mopar heads what is the highest flow number on record for a head without off setting the rockers?

I cant even find images of Airwolfs those must be some low production items and those flowed so well utilizing conventional LA rockers and not offset rockers ???

guy took Chinese eddie knockoff heads and made them 210 cc . He said they were 220, but they aren't that big. Yes, non offset.
His name was Dr J… he is still around, but there was some “ delivery issues” towards the end getting heads from him, and he pretty much evaporated…i heard he is out in California.

Unless the heads were flowed on the same bench the numbers would not be apples to apples

Airwolves were nothing more than well ported pro comps. And promax I believe is just a rename of the defunct Patriot manufacturer that had so many problems they had to change their name please correct me if I'm wrong. And best is nothing more than a fallacy. Any of the major brands with factory rocker arm or pushrod locations can achieve similar results. There's no magic out there.

Thank you - I guess without off-set rockers we are just limited to a few offerings and then have to rely on a few good porters to make them shine.
I wonder wonder why AFR doesn't make a high flowing LA head utilizing stock rocker setups ?

I don't know what your goals are but a good set of ported edelbrocks, pro comps trick flows or promax can lay down some pretty impressive horsepower.imo oh yeah not to leave out J and x and some other production heads.

whatever they are, they have a 210 cc intake port and were 3 mph better( thats a lot) in back to back track testing over trickflows.
Maybe they are nothing more than this or that… but they were way better than Trickflows. I am not sure exactly what Bryce did, but they factually make power

Too small of target audience

Several guys out there that can get over 300 out of Eddies etc . A friend in MN had a set done and they did not move the pushrod . I wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt seen the flow sheet and time slips.

What is the absolutely best performing [LA CYL HEAD ] iron or alum MAX PORTED that DOES NOT use offset rocker arms ?
Asphalt 1/8 mile DRAG RACING
4 speed A body .

I would guess YOU already have the cast iron version. Those Mullin heads Jerry ported. What's the flow numbers on those bad boys?
