No advantage that I can figure. I got the car as an half-finished 25 year project. There were LOTS of things that I didn't get with it, or I had to figure out. I made the dividers because I had no red plastic ones at all. I also had only one tail lens housing. A shout-out to @SGBARRACUDA , as he had the housing I was missing and sent me a somewhat melted divider so I could trace it and make new ones. I had sheet metal on hand and no red plastic, so I went down the road of least resistance.
