Hey guys .
I suspect my mechanical fuel pump is a little loud
(68 383) I'm thinking of replacing it .
I thought I read somewhere you could temporarily bypass it by pinching off the fuel line..
Or am I dreaming that?

When you pull the pump, grab the arm and try to move it up and down and side to side. There should be little to no movement. Lots of movement indicates it is worn out and must be replaced.
