I have 34LT and 35 RT rocker arms on the 340 I am rebuilding after someone else had it torn apart. I am told the notch in the rocker arm shaft goes to the front of the left head and to the rear on the right head. Does anyone know what order the rocker arms go on from front to back on each side? One side starts with a 34LT in the front and the other side starts with a 35 RT in the front. I can't find any references on line and the building a Small block manual is not clear to me. Just trying to get it right. Thank you.

Check the offset of the pushrod pocket. It should face outboard of the cylinder on each side. see pic of #3. Strange #4 looks different...... ?

Notches are to YOUR left and down, as you are leaning over the fender.
on the passenger side, this is to the firewall.
on the drivers side, this is towards the rad.

You are correct but left and right are somewhat ambiguous; not everyone knows that the left head is the driver's side.

The rockers are situated in pairs of left/right, "LT" and "RT" denotes left and right for each pair, as you're looking at it from the exhaust side.
