The brass colored end on the shaft is supposed to only be on MP units, not factory ones.

I was getting 24 degrees mechanical advance i dialed mine back to 18. Im running 16 intial and 34 total and I have 12 in the can.

Dang....Rick Ehrenberg wrote that the brass meant it was an MP unit. I have 2 of them that match that description.

Maybe/maybe not.
As for Power-Timing, on the street;
The engine will usually tell you by rattling when you give her too much, and by being a lil lazy if not nearly enough.. In between, you get to fool around. I wouldn't sweat 3* short of ideal. You can sneak up on that as time goes by.

That Sound Good, however Will be running nitrous and 3* Is a big difference, Will start at at 30* total , take out 6* on nitrous, (2 per 50 hp) read the plugs, adjust the nitrous jets and carb jets, and go from there.
Thanks

Mine has the brass shaft, there Is an opening on the plate that Looks like i can reach the advance screws without remiving the breaker plate and definitely has an adjustable advance
I would just take it out its easy and you can make a more accurate adjustment.

If that's what Rick wrote, it still could hold true I guess??? Brass means it's a MP unit doesn't necessarily mean that all MP units were brass??

Like the new ones licensed by mopar?
Tbo im not 100 percent sure I bought it off a member here he said it was a new mp distributor it dont have any markings or tags it could be a proform or whatever that other company that makes them is.

Every MP one I ever had was machined on the outside, not rough cast like the stock ones.

A recent thread on this forum said the adj centri curve dists were based on a Mallory dist & were dols as MP units.
