Road trip in a 71 year old car.

My advice to you is this- Plan on it failing NOW. Get some reading on how it works, chat with others who still use one and see where they get parts, what to look for and if parts are slim- buy them now or when you can. That’s how you “invest in yourself” and the car. Waiting until it breaks is not the best path to success. Plenty of hacks out there who “can rebuild anything” and make it worse. This car needs the attention after 12 years of being treated badly.

Also please share other pictures. Interior, under the hood. Floors. That stuff is really cool.
I can rebuild it but if it needs any hard part's they pretty much don't exist only the seal kits I can find. It's the wife's car and I'll let her decide.
I've seen T-5 conversions done in these car's wich helps with the cruise rpm greatly but then needs a shifters coming up thru the floor.
