622 mile round trip with a complete original drivetrain to Mississippi Mayhem near lacrosse Wisconsin from Racine Wisconsin! Not one issue with this car that's great Dodge engineering.

No reason it cannot! They cruised hell outta Route 66 back in the day.

This thing sat outside in the mudd for 12yrs, valve was stuck open and nothing left of the brakes but dust! And the guy who had it before us wasn't kind to it at all.
This thing revs out pretty high doing 55-60 with the 3.90 gear.

I bet it does, but it's really not made for it. I'd definitely keep it under 4K. Less would be better. Here's what the connecting rods look like. lol

Yeah I was ready to to see a window in the block! Lol I'm thinking of swapping a 8 3/4 rear end with 3.23s maybe.
Then it will be a slug. That's why it has the 3.90 gear. It has little torque compared to modern engines. It was basically made to run from 40 to about 55 for long distances. Remember, these were the cars that rarely lasted to 100K. ......and the gearing necessary for them to have decent acceleration was a big reason for that.

That's what I was thinking, or I have a 66 poly I want to swap in with a 727 so the 3.23 would be excellent with that engine.

Wow! I would have thought much more.

Cool car you have there!!

There's a Savoy in my small town that shows up to cruise-ins. Not sure if his would survive a 600 mile trip, but its good to see it out.

I cannot believe how many people are interested in this car when my wife drives it and I'm in my Duster it's crazy!

What I love from this story is it is basically original and out there flexing it’s self. IMHO I would seriously think about leaving the same drivetrain in the car. The swap is great but the fact it commands so much attention is because it’s “all there.” How many times have you been to a show and saw an old Ford T or A and under the hood is a Chevy 350. Boring. I appreciate the “keep it Mopar” but there is something about the engine the car was born with that I’d so cool because most people will never see another one again. Just leave extra time to take your time and keep the revs down to preserve this beast.
Okay off my soap box and your story today is really really cool!

“keep it Mopar”
Nothing worse than seeing a chevy engine in a old Mope. Local guy has a 39 Plymouth that has a 350 chevy.BOOOO !
Maybe try and find the tallest rear tire you can fit to lower the highway R's a bit.

Yeah so many 350 swapped car's at the show but 2 guys had slant 6's in their car's, a t-bucket and a 38 dodge. The thing I'm really worried about is the fluid drive coupler failing.

My advice to you is this- Plan on it failing NOW. Get some reading on how it works, chat with others who still use one and see where they get parts, what to look for and if parts are slim- buy them now or when you can. That’s how you “invest in yourself” and the car. Waiting until it breaks is not the best path to success. Plenty of hacks out there who “can rebuild anything” and make it worse. This car needs the attention after 12 years of being treated badly.

Also please share other pictures. Interior, under the hood. Floors. That stuff is really cool.

I can rebuild it but if it needs any hard part's they pretty much don't exist only the seal kits I can find. It's the wife's car and I'll let her decide.
I've seen T-5 conversions done in these car's wich helps with the cruise rpm greatly but then needs a shifters coming up thru the floor.

All you gotta do is lube all those grease fittings regularly and it will roll forever. Simple is less complicated. I'd keep it the way it is. And enjoy the ride.
Steve.. Oops, not my car, sorry!

I greased everything before we left even the water pump! All wheel bearing were cleaned and re- packed so this thing rolls very easy.

Love it. Nothing like running a flat head. Local guy here has a bigChrysler with a flathead. He adapted an over drive, says it just cruises down the freeway in traffic. He says it take awhile to get up to speed but once there it rolls right along.
