600 hp 318?

4.0 Bore 318 block

Does this nasty little beast belong to a member here? Sounds like a well put together combination. Didn’t mention what stroke however.

Found the answer, 408ci

90 over 67 (318 ) block with std bore 360 pistons he doesn't mention stroke could be a 360 cubic inch made out of a 318 block ?

.090 over?? Seems like a lot, but probably allows for big valves @ big lift.

11.7 compression, CNC ported heads, 640 lift solid roller, I think it runs high tens. Not bad really.

.090 over 318 with a 4" throw? Just to say he did? Or could. No advantage over a 408+ made out of a 360.

I saw where he said it was 408 cubes, but that would be a 4.030 bore with a 4" stroke, so who knows.

Actually, 4.00 x 4.00 is 402.13 cubes.

It’s as much a “318” in the same way a low deck BB stroker 512” is a “400”.

Why not start with a 340/360 and a 4.125 stroke crank. 430+ cube small block. 1.5 hp/cube get's you to around 645. Might be a bit more than the block could handle without some help.

I have a buddy with a 65 318 bored .90 over and the cc works out to 332-333. 360 pistons and a turned down 360 crank. It is a nasty motor in a 69 Dart.

I think it proves you don't need to find 340/360 blocks that can be costly, or do a B/RB/Hemi/LS swap to have a 10 second car.

340 blocks are getting hard and expensive to find. The 360 blocks aren't there yet. And talk about hard to find, a early 318 block thick enough to bore .090 is almost unobtainable.

If you add up the parts in his engine, its definitely NOT a inexpensive combo

That's been my argument in these high HP 318 threads, in the end you find nothing about it is 318 except the number cast into the left side of the block...:)

None of it is inexpensive anymore. Parts, Labor, etc.

Reminds me of building a computer, 20 years ago I could and save a ton, now, no way.
That's the thing with people like the guy with the car in question. By saying its "just a 318" he gives the illusion it's a simple, maybe even economical build that somehow showcases a "special" combination and gets everyone clicking his video. If he said it was a "full race CNC ported stroker race engine " nobody would even look twice
