Has anyone had any experience with rebuilt ABS control modules and the company UpFix.com in particular?

I have an 02 Silverado, the ABS light was on. Pulled the board out of it and sent it to a company in Mesa AZ (found on Ebay), they fixed the board.

Older controllers usually fail due to electrolytic capacitors or MOSFETs. Not all, but most can be repaired with a cheap soldering iron, magnifying glass, and access to replacement parts. I fixed the ECU on our Jeep Grand Cherokee.

So some are not super-sophisticated sealed modules. Thanks.

I have used, with great success in the past, Flagship One and MyAirbags.com
My airbags.com will actually rebuild your unit and update the ABS module.
Call them, they do way more than what the post on their website.
Downside, they will take about 2 weeks turn around time.
Flagship One has units in stock that myairbags.com won't. Quicker turnaround time, but may charge a core.

Electronics are not that hard to repair, you just have to know what is bad! Component tester, ESR tester for capacitors and a soldering iron. Anything that looks bloated, burned or blistered is suspect. IC's are harder to TS.

Still, about 70% of failed controllers can be repaired. When the MCU (or other software driven IC's) fails, game over! Without the firmware, even a brand new part won't work. Ran into that trying to fix the electric gate controller (fried processor).
