Power Steering Box Removal

Probably, what year, model, and engine do you have? What headers? maybe a photo of your engine compartment?

It's a 71 duster with a 360 and TTI headers and it is tight in there was wondering if anyone else had figured out a way to work the box out maybe

Sometimes the only way to know is to give it a try. Pull the column, get it up on stands, pull the hoses, remove the pitman arm, unbolt the box, and work the steering back and forth to see if there's enough room to get it out. You might also look at pulling it out the top depending on where the header pipes run and what kind of shift/clutch linkage, master cylinder and booster you may have. Sometimes you can also unbolt the engine mount(s) and jack it up to get extra clearance. Have fun!

What cudamark said and sometimes the header needs unbolted and the motor jacked over to get it out. This was the procedure on my 66 Coronet to get the starter out with a 440 and headers.

Ya I had to jack up the motor 1/2"-3/4" to get the starter in kept hanging up on the steering linkage

Agree, on my 72 dart, loosen headers,Jack up engine a bit and it will come out(via wiggling).

Agree 100% w cudamark. I loosened driver side motor mount and jacked engine up and snaked it out carefully around the torsion bar. It will come out under the car

This should be interesting then actually once I pull out the LCA's to rebuild them and with the torsion bars out of the way that will make it a lot easier forgot about that. It looks like a spring project then firm feel is 3 months out on there boxes.

If anyone is interested here is how I got it out. It was not coming out the usual way without dropping the headers so I pulled out the battery and tray and I did jack up the engine also and beat it past the header and finder well and came right out through the area where the battery goes.
