A friend of mine has an opportunity to buy a 1969 Barracuda 340-S convertible, numbers matching engine. Car is an automatic, silver exterior with a red interior. He’s trying to put a value on it, was not given a price yet, he is supposed to send me some pictures....this is not a “what’s it worth” thread but does anybody have production numbers on a 69 Barracuda like this? I can’t imagine many were made in this color combo...I’ll get a pic up when I see one, thanks!

I guess condition will also play a factor as well. Great score if he gets it. Good for him. Hope you are feeling well Keith.

Keith, I've gone by Galens white book #'s. Not sure where it is now, BUT #'s etched in my mind were 125 total, 34 4spd which leaves 91 auto(approx).
I've tried to break it down further but colors werent tracked. IF it's a true 69 S vert, best case is 1 of 91.
Cool car!

The 69 Barracuda was a bit interesting because unlike 68, you could get the 340 outside of the Formula S package. (340 engine car, a Formula S or as a 340 'cuda). This is why the breakdown above shows 340 engine as a separate production numbers. Getting a clearer breakdown from the fender tags would be a good idea. A true Formula S car *MAY* hold a bit more value than a "regular" 340 powered car. As side note to be aware of, the badging on the fender can and should say 340-S even if it is NOT an "S" car. The reality is it's a rare car and sounds like a deal no matter what plus its got a real nice color combo...so kudos....

...and as we all know, just when you think you have "what's correct" figured out, some other nuance shows up.

Actually, from the table, it would be rarer as a "non-S" 340 convertible than as an "S" convertible... 47 total produced as opposed to 83. Automatic numbers would be maybe 75% of that. So we are talking in the range of 30 to 50 cars, either way. At that point, the number of cars with any particular paint + interior scheme other than the most popular (say, yellow with black, or green on green) is going be in single digits, right down there with mod tops. So there is no question that this is a rare car. But condition is everything.

Did they make a "69 Formula S Cuda"?
Yes, a 383 and 340 see the chart above. An old buddy of mine from Belvidere NJ still has his '69 Black on Black 340 Formula S 4 speed Fastback. He worked for Chrysler in the 60's.

No, there were Formula S and Cudas - with different 'decor' (and I believe some other things different...):

But there were no Formula S Cudas...
Read post #10, also the term "cuda" (post#9) is used for every Barracuda ever made although not necessarily referring to the 1st original "cuda's from 1969. Now if post#9 he meant an actual Formula S "cuda" then no they didn't. But if he was using the term cuda as an abbreviation for Barracuda then yes they made a Formula S Barracuda. It's all semantics. I've owned 2 '69 cuda A56 optioned cars since 1969.

'Now if post#9 he meant an actual Formula S "cuda" then no they didn't. '

I think, he - Oldmanmopar -asked exactly that....

I did mean the combined package. 1969 Barracuda Formula S "Cuda". Meaning the Formula S badging with the Cuda' call out decal with stripe and scoops.

Then that would be a "no".
Thanks. Looked at a 69 Barracuda 383 4spd. No badging or decals does have the scoops , I believe it was repainted . Is there any badging at all except for decals on a Cuda' . Could it have been a 383 Barracuda ? It is Teal with white interior.

What color top? Regardless, that would be a striking car! Love the A4.

Ok, I have some pictures! Car is pretty solid and in great shape....I blurred out the last vin #’s since it’s not my car....
