rule of thumb,..poping out the carb is a ignition issue,..poping out the pipes is a carburation issue! but id pull valve covers and check for a whipped lobe or a bent push rod,...rocker arm issue!
I dunno man...I saw a 383 in a B body popping out of carb,and it turned out to be a valvetrain issue...rocker arm fell off pushrod...not shaft mounted. Ill never know what folks problem is with the shaft mount rocker arm system...
