I pretty much know the cam that I want for my small block stroker build for my truck. It was already suggested by triple R and Ken at Oregon cam grinding said pretty much to the same...
I took my cam that I had laying in my shed down to Oregon cam today and it seems as the reason the motor was probably put aside because the second to last most(seven or eight exhaust) lobe was shot. Too bad to regrind and Ken wasn't there it was just bill the one a lot of people recognize as having a bit of a speech impediment but we chatted for a while over the options...
Anyways the one that I wanted to order from Summit was a comp Magnum cam and the date keeps getting pushed back every time I look at it. It's the 224 at 50, 470 lift with a 110 lobe separation.
Also that's a solid flat tappet cam. I'm just having trouble finding somewhere else on the internet that may have one in stock... Any help would be appreciated..

I don't know the part number you are looking for, but did you try Speedwaymotors.com ? Or Mananci ??

I called a couple of those places and at least one of them has a couple of few cores that they can make a cam for me...
Still that would be 2 weeks and $200 plus shipping.. the two weeks doesn't kill me whatsoever and the price isn't over the top but I did reach out to some local Mopar people and I did locate a core...
I'm going to see about picking that up tomorrow... That would put me at $40 for a good usable core and again $89 for the grind...

Can Ken not weld the lobe up and regrind it?

When did you get a gold member?...
I talked to Bill and he said Ken may do that.. Ken won't be in till Monday but I'm telling you I didn't have a high hopes for the cam when I brought in.. the core that I will pick up tomorrow likely is said to look brand new and was in a engine that was not finished built and still had cam lube all over it. He said it has purple paint on it so both of us are assuming it's a purple performance cam and that's actually what I have in my duster that's been reground a couple times...

They're good people. I called one time and Bill answered the phone. At one point in the conversation he called me by another name.....John, Tim.....I don't remember. I told him it was Rob but I answered to most anything including asshole sometimes. He says "OK asshole...." and kept talkin. LOL I like them guys. They do some good work, too.

As we were talking I said that's a real Oregon cam... He started wiping it off and looking for numbers on the end of it... I said I just brought it from Oregon...
He said you got me that time...
Whats cooll is being there and seeing the thousands of cams and all their different kinds of configurations. And the big 8-ft tall cams standing up on end...

Has it got be a solid? Isky has got hyd grinds of 216, 221, & 224 @ 050. Alternatively, you could run these with sol lifters at tight lash.
They also have a sol lifter, 226 @ 050, 107 LSA, 490 lift.

Well I reached out to my Mopar brother'en here close by and swung by and got an old purple performance cam for 40 bucks. I took it down to Oregon Cam and it looked like it'll work.
Damn it used to be $79 to regrind the cam and then the last time I called it was 89 and now I walked out of there and it's 99! PLUS TAX!!!... Being an Oregonian that's not something I'm used to... It looks like their lifters are just under $200 for a set (plus tax..) and Summit has the comp lifters for 226 sent to my door without tax but I guess I'll just spend my money locally... He said a week or two...

Those taller ones are a good 8 ft high I can only imagine what they go to...

Yeah I'm pretty dead set on on a solid lifter cam. I do have the adjustable rockers and I'm comfortable with making that adjustment once every couple years or checking them... Of course that little bit of a sewing machine sound..

That's totally awesome! I sure appreciate the offer... Unfortunately as you can see I've already kind of made my commitments of buying a used Cam and having it redone and so forth so I'm just going to go ahead and stay with my first decision here. Again I can't thank you enough for the offer..

It looks like you will have a core made for the .904 lifters...that is a plus. Those Comp cams are Chevy grinds.

My decision so far to have a core reground has seemed to paid off. Literally paid LOL... I have my cam and lifters in hand and the Comp Cam is still moving a month and a half out day by day... And the nerve it's gone up $20 since the last time I looked... :realcrazy:...
Raising the price on something you don't have...:bs_flag:....
