Maybe our definition of "small fortune" is different :D. Considering the cost of the wheels, shipping them to LA, and then the boat ride to NZ, It sounds expensive to me. I've loaded and shipped lots of containers down there through the years. The costs have really gone up the last 20 years. Sometimes you can add your shipment to a partial load already headed that way and save quite a bit. You just have to be patient and not have a tight schedule. My NZ buddy will be here next summer and will probably be shipping a load back home, but, I'm not sure if he's going to get a container or just combine his load with someone else. If he gets a container, he will most likely have room for a set of 4 or 5 wheels. His shipping rates to Auckland are as good any anyone's. If the OP is in no big hurry to get them, it's a good option. There's probably a member here or a wrecking yard in SoCal that would have his wheels too. That would help on shipping costs.
