360 build for guys that like dyno numbers

Hey Ramm was wondering what your opinion was on a short fill for the street. Would it create too many cooling problems overall or do you think there would be ways around that where it could be done successfully.

The waterpump center section was from our big block build in 2009 and I figured a simple plate machined the way it is would work--it did and I still have it and use it on some dyno sessions. J.Rob

What wp housing did you use?

Thanks, Justin

Ramm, you said you would upgrade the piston and rings, could you elaborate on what you had in mind for pistons and rings ?

Sure can, I would have used a set of Mahle Motorsports pistons with their fantastic 1mm/1mm/2mm ring package. I'm sure an easy 10hp/10tq maybe more with fresher bores. J.Rob

Ive done this quite a few times, no issues with coolant, but some may want an oil cooler. J.Rob

Do the always reward torque over horsepower on these contest builds. I hear you about the talking on the phone and getting things messed up. But then again some of these editors would mess it up during a face to face interview. Thanks for setting us straight and keep up the good work.
Yes torque production was always rewarded heavily, very few if any examples of a high horsepower build scoring well with just a big peak number. J.Rob

Hey Ramm, any particular block filler that you use or recommend or does it matter much ? Also on the heads did you have to in large the pushrod openings to get the trend pushrods to clear , and did you tube the pushrod bulge ? Thanks Man , love that engine for a street car just outstanding.

Ive used 2 types of block filler, pretty sure they are just cement. I did have to machine the valve cover rail for pushrod clearance . I did nothing with the pushrod bulge, I actually had to fill the floor of the port a bit to fix a turbulence i issue, which I'm sure was a large part of the 1.38 tq/ci I observed. Thanks for the enthusiasm. J.Rob
