Being 'Old School' makes it difficult to hold my tongue at times...

I have to totally disagree and hopefully this won't head down to rabbit hole, I have a union position we have the highest pay rate the best equipment, the best benefits package, the most time off, and probably the highest quality of worker in our industry. Maybe a few people take some advantage but when there's a thousand people that want your job you better do it good. And once again I try not to measure myself by other people's standards or what they do with their time.
Its the easy way to blame the union worker when the blame should be were it rightfully belongs
People seem to think being in a union automatically give a worker the God given right to be a slacker.
Its been my experience that shops ran like that are shops were the management has lost a gripe and lets the worker dominate
I would not know my trade like I know today nor would I have what I have had it not been for my union trade employment......I wouldn't have the benefits or retirement I have either
I also seen at my age many of guys I know who are dead or disabled from all sorts of disease and other illness as a result of the work that they did all those years
So no a union job isn't a cushy easy get any with anything type of employment, not with what I did
We had major F-ups, guys who were drug users thieves who deserved any punishment they got including getting fired and we had guys who did nothing wrong and still got screwed over, I represented them all as a shop steward....I worked for good and bad boss's ....Its human nature not the job or union
