HyRev 7500 ECU box

-
Earlier in this thread it was mentioned the Chrome ECU should not be used on the street [ under 2000 rpm in the MP book ]. This unit uses a 0.25 ohm bal res, lower than the other boxes. I suspect the reason is that the coil current 'on' time is too long at low rpms; this coupled with the low resistance bal resistor could overheat the coil.

Was that me that said that? I don't remember. If it was, I meant to say the GOLD box, not the chrome one. The gold box isn't supposed to idle very long it's so damned hot. It was probably me. I'm always fuckin somethin up.

......and while we're at it......why is it when you install the little "chip" voltage regulator in the instrument cluster it's considered an "upgrade" but when a similar transistor chip is used in a modern ignition ECU all of a sudden it's a fake piece of ****? I find that pretty interesting.
Rob no way for the heat to dissipate thats what kills them. If they mounted them to the top of the heat sink it would probably be fine.

I keep a coil, ecu, and ballast, even tho you can bypass the ballast. I don't think its a good practice though
It's not with a coil that requires one, but it'll get you home. I think what I am going to do is get another hi rev box and ballast and install them next to their working counterparts. If one fails, all I need to do is transfer plugs.

So being mounted in the middle of the heat sink does nothing? How is that so? ...understand, I'm not trying to argue, but trying to learn.

Oh come on we both love to *****!

See that tab? it should dissipate the heat, it is just potted in the unit. A "real" TO3 transistor mounts on the case and cools way better.

That Part gets the hottest in the ECU's. They are cheaping out on them is the why. Not sure what you are trying to "get"

Yup, rebadged parts store items with his “hype” added to make you think you’re getting a special piece, that he has them made exclusively for him. Like his new electronic distributors he hawks. Fell for the exciting verbiage, bought one, realized it was a WP Chinese distributor available everywhere. Sent it back and got one elsewhere.....for a lot less $$
Got burnt on one too. BLESSING it didn't Det My Mill

The WP brand (stands for Wonderful Product as in high quality China stuff ) that I have is still working, albeit with an nos USA made pickup coil, MP advance springs and FABO plate. Still nice and tight, no slop in the shaft, weights etc.Timing rock solid. Street and strip use AOK...Either I’m lucky or they are a fine piece.

Definitely need the Plate! I like the other additions to the game also! Great job with the modifications!

8500 through the stock exhaust manifolds.... :D It's a good piece, worth .00002 % of a tenth in the 1/4. It all matters..... :poke:
I bought one, waiting for it to get here.
Amidst all the hype I forgot to ask,
Does it provide a fat spark at 7500 rpm ?

All I can say is, it works, but IDK at 7500 rpm, me slant 6 no rev high enough to test that lol.

All I wanna know is, if they're such pieces of ****, where are all the people bitching about failures?

U said it correctly !
And your comment about timing being retarded on all but ( GOLD ) box !
