With only a partially assembled wiring harness, I failed to find the reason for the reverse lights not working on a '65 Formula S Barracuda. After consulting the wiring diagram, I found the power source for the reverse lights is a white wire that comes from the wiper motor switch/harness. With the wiper switch wires installed, the reverse lights now are operating. This, of course, is with the floor mounted automatic shifter and corresponding console.

While I was at it, I found the dash lights would not work. I found an internal short in the headlamp switch. I swapped in another switch from a parts car and the dash lights worked. Now I find with the headlight dash light dimmer turned all the way counter clockwise (to operate dome/courtesy lights with doors still closed) the dash lights go out. Still looking for that problem. I guess it could be the headlight switch from the parts car has an internal short (of a different kind) as well. Still looking for that solution.

I just read on another thread that the '65 Barracuda and '65 Valiant have different circuits in their respective headlamp switches. I'm not positive, but I believe the front parking lights turn off with the Barracuda when the headlamp switch is pulled all the way out.

I looked up both '65 Valiant and '65 Barracuda on Summit website and the same 3 headlamp switches were offered for both models: DS165, DS165T, and OER MD9341.

My '65 Formula S switch has Mopar 2580463.

That’s normal for the dash lights to go off with dome manually turned on.
Don’t invent more problems!

And yes, the front parking lights turn off when the headlights are on
