We bought this car last summer, went through the mechanics & electrics with a lot of help from this forum. Much thanks to all!
It's a '64 with a 66 front clip, motor & K-member, disc brakes. Slant 6, 4sp OD trans. The front clip had been painted "close" to the original color, inner fenders, firewall as well.
Started taking the car apart in November with the plan to get paint done while it was whaty passes for cooler here in FL!
Unfortunately my wife became ill and passed in April from some long term health issues.
My 1 day at a time has me focused on getting the car done!
Car was painted in my garage with single stage Nason Full-thane. Color is Medium Irridescent Brown.
Most of the trim is back on, windshield install is next.
After that I need to make & cover the interior panels, carpet and redo the seats.
Top installation will be last.

So sorry for your loss- as you say, one day at a time. She will always be with you.
The car is shaping up nicely- I like the color!

Looks great, I like the fact you did it! You're wife is smiling upon you. Keep up the great work and attitude, you'll get it done! 65'

Sorry for your loss. It's never easy. But it's good to see you are keeping on in life one way or another. Alot of people just become lost souls after losing their Spouse. Your one day at a time is perfection.

What color top?

The car came with a new black Kees top & window. I would have bought a brown one if I didn't have this one.

That's awesome, my poor old dart is in desperate need of a paint job

So sorry for your loss.
Great work on the paint! That side spear hides the mismatch in body lines between the front fender and door quite well.

sorry for your loss.
but i gotta say that is one of the best at home paint jobs i have seen, nice, straight didn't see any runs or sags, fab finish, good gloss no flat spots in the finish.. body work is flat and fantastic.
are you SURE you aren't a pro painter and just pulling our legs.. GREAT job either way.. can't wait to see the finished product.
better make room for more trophies with that babe.
don't forget, every time you drive it, your wife will be right there beside you every mile.

GREAT JOB!!! I like the black on the grill .
Thanks Al, the outer portions of the grill sections wouldn't clean up very well, and I thought with the center section already black, the outers would look good painted like this. Kind'a sinister!

Door & quarter panels made and covered as well as the kick and 'vert mechanism covers.
Seats are next (Sebring convert seats with the shoulder harness) then the top.
I will probably recover the top of the console with the dark brown.

Those Sebring seats look like they were born there. I have a 1964 Valiant convertible. I installed seats from a Cobra convertible, mainly to get shoulder belts. I had to kludge the belt return to the back of the seat, but it works and doesn't hit the rear passengers due to the side offset. I have Sebring seats for my 1965 Dart. What brackets did you use to attach the seats to the floor? Mine have slotted angle from Ace Hardware, but looks a bit hokey so might change that. The last task for my 1964 is to buy and install a top. I already restored the convertible top frame w/ hydraulics. I'm thinking of canvas in burgundy to match my dark red paint. The canvas tops I've seen on newer cars give a very classic look.

This is the thread on how I mounted the seats. '64 Valiant Convertible, Chrysler Sebring seat install
Please ignore the bird-**** welds on the bolts, borrowed wire feed used to tack the bolt heads so I could tighten the nuts underneath.
Note that once the seats are installed and adjusted the mounts are not really noticeable, you have to make the effort to lok under the seat!
I have a new black Kees top that came with the car. I would have bought a brown one if I didn't have this one!

I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your wife.

This is a great looking project and I hope it is good for you to have something to make such impressions progress on.

I’m not sure what’s better the exterior or the interior- looks fantastic!
