I'm deciding which flywheel/clutch size to use for a couple of different swaps. Help me understand the working range of each of the mopar flywheel/clutch.bellhousing sizes -
Please correct me if I'm wrong in any of the below:

60's-70's Mopar Clutches:
-----------------------------
9 1/4" - stock slant six and very early 273s. OK for slant six, barely OK for a 273-2 barrel.

10" - stock smallblock, original in early Formula S cars with a 273-4. My impression is that this clutch is underpowered for a smallblock pretty quickly, but that's based on a 318-4 I had that started slipping and the clutch might have been worn to begin with. Is it enough for a mild street 360? I'm not sure.

10.5" - stock 340/bigblock clutch. Beefy for all but very high power applications. Use z-bar pivot relocation plate from Brewers in A-bodies.

11" - stock 440/Hemi clutch. Very beefy, good for anything on the street and race up to (? some hp level that's way beyond me)

I realize a lot depends on usage. I'm aiming for street use in my cars, with burnouts and launches being rare, mostly spirited driving in lightweight A-bodies.

It looks to me like all the 360 flywheels I see are for the 10.5" clutch, so should that's the minimum for a 360? I have several 10" bells to work with and wondering if it's worth it or if I should just always go for 10.5". Honestly though if the 10" were so bad people would complain about it, and I don't hear it. Maybe I just got a bad taste for the 10" from a worn clutch and they're better than I think.

And what are the 143 tooth flywheels I keep seeing? IS that modern truck/Magnum stuff? Any use for them in older cars?

Thanks as always for the wisdom -

One option you left out is the 10.95". It will fit where the 10.5" will, because it has a scollaped pressure plate. I would get the casting number off your bellhousing and look it up and see what it says fits. Put the biggest clutch that'll fit.
