Yup. I knew things had been going too good for us here for a little while. Kitty was waterin the tomato plants tonight and all of a sudden water pressure died. I checked the breaker. It's on. Went to the well and took the cap off and put the meter on it. it's gettin 122V AC on each leg. So the well pump is shot. 340 feet down, too. I have no way to get "ALL THAT" out. I caint even flush a turd. I don't know what we're gonna do. Figure somethin out "I guess". lol
 
Dang brother hate to hear that! I wish I was closer id lend a hand. Im not real smart but im pretty strong lol

I could do it if I had a way to pull that dead beeotch outta the ground. I don't. I thought about my engine hoist, but as bad a shape as I'm in I'd be jackin on that thing for days before I ever got it out.

How about one of those harbor freight winches? Rural king had one on sale for like 49 bucks if you have one of them close by.

What will I attach it to? I thought about trying to rig something up so I could pull it out with the tractor....but I'm sure I'd end up tearin somethin all to hell.
 
For the winch id attach it to your f250 and park it close by. Winch it until you run out of winch then tie it off pull the winch back out and start cranking again you will have to do it 50ft at a time or however long the winch is

Can you get some stock angle iron, weld it up? and build A frame saw horses? We used A frames for stucco, and sometimes built em.outta 4x4 braced off w/ plywood gussets and 2x4 braces...but you could use 6x6" and 3/4" ply to reinforce joints, with 2x6 diagonally..

Heck yeah Bro! I was talking to him a lil bit ago. 340' down. Filled w/ water..I feel for them. But I, like you, think it could be " Redneck Renovated " he's got a labor issue. Its a long way from here... wonder if there are any Stand Up Bros here w/ some young strong kids in GA?
 
In the old days the old man would put a rim on the back wheel put the wire rope in the valve hole tie a knot & start the car in first gear used to pull a 1/2 ton kibble of ore to the surface
 
What kind of tube, is it rigid pipe or flex poly? And can you get the lid off the wellhouse or do you have to bend it and pull it out the door? Or is it all outside?

"What I'd do" I would not use a cherry picker because you can't get much "stroke." Figure a way to built a tripod, even 2x6s etc. "Rig" a small hoist and a a couple of extra "dangling" ropes so that you can pull it up, then tie hitches around with the ropes and release the hoist, then leap frog. That way (with a ladder) you can get maybe 8' per "stroke" That will greatly lesson the re-riggin or as some of us say, re-niggin
 
It's all outside. If I had like a frame of sorts, I could use a cable, rope, whatever and just throw it over the frame right over the well and pull it out with the tractor. But of course, I don't have anything like that and it's the worst time of the month for it to happen, of course.

I cannot remember if it's rigid pipe or "what" it is. I was hoping maybe it over heated and maybe turning it off for a spell and letting it cool might do it. No go.

We actually had a power surge earlier and that's about the time it went out. When the power went off and them came back on I bet that got the pump.
 
I have a chain hoist I could hang off my cherry picker jacked all the way up. But I don't even know "WHAT" to attach to or "WHERE" it is "DOWN THERE". lol
 
Try turning the breaker off then checking for 3 phase if you test at the pump 1 phase can feed back up the other phase & give the impression there is 3 phases present could be 2 phasing also clip a ammeter on each leg & turn the pump on briefly to check all 3 phases are drawing current will help to tell you if the motor is good.
 
Rob make CERTAIN you are not making a big mistake on your measurements. There is certain electrical faults that can make you THINK you have 220 to the motor. For example if one leg is actually dead but the contactor is either closed or stuck OR IF THE RUN CAP is somehow in the circuit, the one leg can feed clear back to the dead leg and it will measure 120V as well.

Best way is go clear across the whole line "line to line" and confirm you have 220. If you can figure out how to (safely) jumper power across the controls to the pump motor make sure "it doesn't run" before you pull all of it.

You might want to see if you can find 'a friend' who REALLY knows pumps and AC
 
That has got to be that black poly flexible water tubing going down 350 feet.

They usually have some type of Nylon Save Rope that goes down with it to help pull it up.

Could you imagine how much weight would be hanging there if it was 350 feet of 1 1/2" galvanized pipe, that would be unreal.

Just take the pipe apart as ya gotta.
 
Here's what I have. I have the means. It will work. But I'm not sure Kitty and I together have the stamina enough to do "THIS" for 340 feet. This chain hoist is one SSSLLLOOOWWW old dude. The engine hoist hook is probably about 10 feet in the air here. MIGHT give us an actual 7-8 feet of pulling room. We'll be bout DEAD by the time we get 1/4 of the way up, I'm sure. I "GUESS" we're gotta try.

Well you don't have to do that all at one time!!! That looks good. You MIGHT be able to pull it up with the hoist, then slowly work it out with the tractor. Can your wife handle the tractor? Dead slow 1st gear, you "wiggle" the pump piping loose

Here's MY biggest worry. If we do "ALL THIS" to find out the pump is toast because the well id dry. I'm about 100% SURE that's not the case, as all was "WELL" until late this afternoon. "WELL", I'm startin to really hate that word already.
