Guy gave me a price on used but decent condition, light surface rust steel
4 pieces 4x4x 3 1/6 tubing saw cut. to 7'2''
4 pieces 16" X 16" x 1/4 plain plate sheared to size
4 pieces 7'' x7'' x 3/8 plain plate sheared to size with 4 9/16 holes punched in each plate
$750.00 cash
he has 24' lengths of the tubing so I need one length and im assuming he has a short piece or is cutting a length and selling me just the seven plus footer
The other plate is scrap or drop off from something they sheared for another customer
Again this is not new so I have to inspect it because I need to be reasonably clean

Anybody out there who knows steel prices are going per pound?
Thanks

Have a buddy that has a small stamping/ fab shop and his material costs are through the roof. His stainless prices are 3x-4x what they were 1.5-2 years ago. Not sure on steel, but guessing it has followed the stainless trend.

Somewhat patiently waiting for an increase in scrap steel prices.

I've been sitting on a trailer full since it was over $10 per 100#

Has been around $3 for the past year.

I think you could google steel prices in your area and be a bit more accurate. Scrape steel here is like .30 lbs

Wow I’m happy I don’t live where you guys live

Last week I took a load of scrap in and they were paying $5.50 a 100#, this was on a Tuesday the Friday before it was $6.00 a 100#, the yard said the price on steel was dropping.

What are you trying to fab up with those materials ?
Im building a pavilion in the backyard. Were using square tubing for uprights.
Normally id just buy two 20 footers and cut it myself but I don't have my truck anymore and its to much a PIA to take a dump truck.
Its easier this way and I might as well have the yard shear everything and punch the holes on his iron worker rather than me drilling them
