Stop in for a cup of coffee

Watching a video. Ya, it's a turd of a job. Nothing is simple any more.
I have been working on a lot of late model junk and you really get used to it. It's often easier to drop the whole subframe out to get to anything.

Those are awesome engines, a friend of mine is building one for one of his cars. He has been finding parts for that for years!

It does achieve making the engine shorter so they can shorten up the nose of the vehicle. In similar fashion to how Chrysler engineers designed the Valiant around the slant six. It was the first inline six to have the water pump offset to the side to allow a shorter nose on the vehicle. Worked pretty good, too. Wouldn't you say?
Assuming it's mounted for a rear wheel drive car. On a transverse mounted engine some have the water pump on the back of the engine which would be on the driver side over the transmission and that is a ton easier than fighting the passenger frame rail for wrench space.

The ford vulcan 3.0 is an example of that

If you think those are a *****, go find an old GM Quad Four and put a water pump on that. lol

I have it backwards, I meant to say ford duratech 3.0, it's the dohc with the water pump on the back.

The vulcan 3.0 is the older design with the water pump on the front so you can wrestle with the damn frame rail like in a taurus ..... ask me how I know. I fought the frame rail and the frame rail won.

Those are weird looking little engines. I junked a 90 Oldsmobile Calais with a quad four..... weird *** little car. Looked like it was designed on Mars.
I have never cared much for GM products, id take a ford before a GM.

But that's a walk in the park to change. We have one. Kitty's 04 Escape. I haven't put a pump on it yet, but it's RIGHT THERE in your face when you open the hood.

Plus if your serpentine belt takes a crap, you can still drive the car but just have to wrestle the steering wheel without power steering, I did that in a taurus

Happiness is walking into the kitchen and finding a hot pot of coffee ready... because you forgot that you had prepped and programed it last night.

Good morning Gents

I have a 2007
I don't know how hard that is. It doesn't have to be timed so maybe not a bad job. I will have to ask Mark next time I'm at the dealer.
Jeep with the 4.7 The water pump was the easiest water pump I have ever changed. A little over an hour does it. I didn'r even have to remove the shroud although would have made it easier. I like my 4.7

Old willy...how are you doing? And Happy my old buddy. I have to get ready for work but will return when I get there

I just figured out it's those "up in the middle of the night" nights when I make all my over bids on Fleabay. Hope I don't win that Joe Walsh record lol!
