Hi!
Might be a stupid question, but i cant seem to get my 73 360 to fit right with my 75 904. suposedly been driven before, but not in the last 20 year. It’s a 75 duster. Does anyone have some advice here?

sorry for the bad english, been a long time since my english lessons here in norway!

thanks in advance

Same bolt pattern on a 318. Same bolt pattern on a 904 or 727. It should not be a issue

What do you mean by "not fit right"? Bolt pattern of transmission to back of block, or converter to flex plate? Converter into transmission?
Your English is MUCH better than my Norwegian, don't worry about it.

Are you having issues with the torque converter? Is it fitted into the front pump correctly? It would cause issues.

The issue is that there is a gap of 8mm on the passenger side, and 15 mm on the driver side between the transmission and the engine. Tried lifting the engine, lowering the transmission and moving them induvidualy to «wiggle» them into place. I have no more ideas on what to do

Photos are the same as what your doing. 360 & 904 Trans.

I think I se my problem, i dont belive my converter is that as much in to the transmission. I think mine is a bit more «out» if that makes sense

Converter needs to be a 12.7 mm back from the Trans surface.

It will make a mess of there is fluid in it but the best way Ive found to seat a stubborn torque converter is to stand the trans up on the tailshaft and rotate the converter. Back, forth, up, down, shimmy and shake. Sometimes they just don’t want to seat in the pump.

Converter must seat into the pump other wise you will ruin the pump as soon as you start it.....

besides the distance as mention above,,,,,if you turn the converter back n forth you should hear a clak clak noise...that is the snout of the converter hitting the tits on the pump...

Make sure the flex plate is installed forward looking to the crank. Second make sure the torque converter is seated properly. If it doesnt line up with flats in the pump it wont seat completely. Ask me how I know

Tim

Usually when you spin the convertor to seat it into the transmission it will click in 2 times I don’t think you have it fully into the transmission yet. As others have mentioned
Otherwise it will bolt up perfect Good luck!
