Hi guys, here is my project. I originally purchased this car for my girlfriend who had to have it.... I’ve had many tire kickers feign interest in buying the car, I got as low as 2500 dollars at one point but now I have decided I like the car and I will turn it into the sweet ride it that I know it can be.

My goal is going to just spruce it up and get it looking good for next spring, it’s immediate needs are a new trunk floor and extension panel on the right side, as well as driver side floor pan. I have had a nightmare trying to ship these parts by truck/barge, I ordered everything I needed from AMS and they were really great....the shipping company however, have really tested my faith in humanity. Long story short is that it’s been almost 3 months, I have no parts and no refund at this point but it’s ok, I have determined this is the residual negativity exercising it’s way out of the car. I’m still trying to source these parts hopefully on the west coast at this time.

here she is in her current state.

This car had an electrical issue and died at a stop light last year, as I was trying to push the car off the street, a fellow helped me push and turned out to be the original owner of this car! He was even driving a new style dart.

That's a nice car that's clean! The interior looks amazing. I have a 75 swinger. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. My suggestion is to work on one thing at a time, keep it drivable. Its alot easier to stay motivated in the project when you can jump in it and drive it around after you have completed whatever it is your working on. Dont just gut the whole car thinking you will put it back together as you go. To much stuff gets lost and forgotten and then you get frustrated and give up. Sorry about the ex but there are lots of them and not that many 74 swingers left.

Welcome
Looks pretty much identical to my 74 when I got it, although yours is in much much better condition. Looking forward to seeing your progress!!

Thanks man! It needs a new trunk floor, and a drivers side floor pan, I’m ordering those today....again....but other then that the car is in remarkable condition Considering where it has spent most of its life.

Update!

I finally got the parts in and got to doing some work to this car!!!!

I didn’t realize that she had the lower quarters replaced before. They didn’t do a very good job of things and they are pretty rusty.

Nice keep up the good work. Like the story of you pushing it and the original owner stopped to help, classic. Dustin

Hi guys, its been awhile but im still here and still working on this car! I cant seem to upload pictures at the moment but im slowly moving forward. I ended up having to do more sheetmetal work then i originally thought. I bought some fat rear tires for this baby so im having someone with a clue give me some assistance in flaring my quarter panels to fit my 295's under there. We had to do some work to the passenger side wheelhouses and lower quarter to get the flare im looking for as well as replaced extension panel, the trunk pan and fixed some rust holes. I have aquired a drivers side extension panel, as well as inner and outer wheel houses and lower quarter for the drivers side because they were just smoked , ive cut out all the bad stuff and hopefully will get the drivers side back together this month. At this point i have exceeded my budget for this car but im sure im not the first guy to do that so ive accepted it and looking forward to spending more.

Here is my problem......I live in Juneau, Alaska and i have not even seen another dart on the road up here but wouldnt you know i crack open the craigslist and there is a 1970 with a 340 and a 4 speed that runs and drives but it is horribley rusted worse then the one ive been playing with. The owner has expressed a willingness to part the car out which really bothers me but not so much that i wouldnt like to have the running gear out of this car! The car runs and drives but i wouldnt call it safe.....How much do you guys think i should offer for the running gear? He wants 4500 for the car and he is not budging.

Thanks!

I paid $2500 for a real 70 cuda 340 4-speed rust bucket a few years ago.
But it was a complete car, a few people called me an idiot for paying that much, but now everyone wants the parts off it.
And they think the parts should be cheap, because I bought the whole car.
