In my 1991 D150 I would like to put speakers in the lower cab corners behind the seat. For those familiar with using panel bond here is my question......if I create a sheet metal bracket to hold speakers could panel bond hold the brackets in place permanently? I really don't want those ugly speaker boxes behind the seat.

get the factory speaker mounts. i got them in my truck and they are great. if you can't find them in a junk yard, try mile slay in tiffin ohio. he is on fb and has new, used, nos parts for sale. good guy. i have bought from him before. pretty honest fellow.

Did you install 4x10 speakers or modify the brackets to fit something else?

Never have heard of miles slay.
I have heard of and been to Murray Park's C body place also in Tiffin.
I have never been able to meet Murray, met his wife instead.
Seems we have reason every year to go thru Tiffin, we have a get together every year that weekend, not far from that town, but coincidentally it also happens to be Mopar Nats weekend in Columbus and Murray is there that weekend (not surprisingly)
Might have to look up this Miles guy.

mike slay. damn fat fingers. they are 6x9. i also put 6x9 in front doors. i could not find my factory plastic covers for the fronts, so i bought 4 from mike slay.

Panel bond will do the trick if you want to use it. We bond box sides, roofs, door skins with zero issues. Factory built cars have bonded panels.

Do you like Fusor, or 3M better? I've got to fix the wheel arches on our Dakota, and have thought about bonding them VS welding them.

I have never been a fan of bonding patches. Usually you will see a perfect line of where the filler slightly separates from the adhesive. They have gotten better with time but still not a fan. You can bond in a plug weld area but I don't in a solid weld area like a sectioning point. I have used them both and they work equally well. The best part is they are corrosion resistant. You can apply with an acid brush and wher ever you cover will not rust like a welded area.

x2 on Mike, he always seems to have the hard to get parts.
Super nice guy, when I see him at Carlisle or the Nats, I always go over and say hi to him.

I use the Lord Fusor all the time and absolutely love it. All the epoxies are pretty much the same but, they make the tubes where they will only fit their brand of gun, thats where they get you...I started with the Fusor because the gun was a fraction of the cost of the 3M gun. Stuff stinks like hell but, works awesome!!

I use the 3M and it really does not have any smell to it, but you are right, the gun is expensive like $70, and the bad thing is for the last year or so the 3M adhesive is very hard to purchase.
