Hi enthusiasts, Slant6 Al here. Reaching out for some info on an item I’ve owned for quite sometime now maybe one of you can give me info on this one.
Back in the early 90’s I picked up this Hurst 4-speed pistol grip shifter handle and can’t seem to find anything online in my research. It seems it’s made from a solid block of billet aluminum. Correct size and specs for an original shifter handle. The only separate pieces on it are the plastic grips, with 3 screws holding it together and the 4-speed shift pattern decal on top. There are weighted shift handles on the market by Mishimoto for our Mopars weighing in at 12.8 oz. This one weighs 14oz. Almost a pound of aluminum. I was going to have it polished but MCG says to leave it as is. I was considering selling it since I won’t be using it in my Challenger, but if it’s original from days gone by I’m not sure. I need more info. Thanks, Al

Looking at the photos it looks like a cheaply made copy of a Pistol Grip shifter except the originals were made of steel, chromed and also included the handle.

I have never seen a screw-on pistol grip handle before. I wonder if someone made this to replace a ball type shift knob back in the day.

Thanks guys, that made a big difference posting up the pics of this thing. I wondered about this as long as I’ve owned it. Being carved out of billet aluminum, it even resembles the chrome steel handles. I sent photos and info to MCG they haven’t gotten back with me, but did say leave it as is. And it weighs quite a bit. Has wood grained plastic grips with three screws holding it together. I always thought the shifter knobs screwed onto shifter lever. Thanks again. Al

Going back about 20 years, I had a friend who commissioned a few bezels for the pistol grip - CNC billet aluminium....very nice. I urethaned one on my GTX as the original was all pitted up.
You couldn't really tell the difference...apart from the fact that it looked nice.
