Disc Brake Conversion on A100

-
Awesome information. What size rims do you have on your van. Looking to do this conversion, I know 15's were stock, but we have 14's on the front and am concerned they may not slide over the assembly. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Ross

15s on front and 16s on the rear.

The front drums are not reproduced!!!
I had all 4 drums new - installed myself.....originals must have been replaced years ago. I bought new ones and had them machine surfaced.
Eventually did the disc brake upgrade using Scarebird parts and list of other items.

The other thing I did on my A100 was to add a remote vacuum booster - sits just behind the driver's side wheel housing...tucked up out of harms way.

The hoses recommended by Scarebird are junk - Chevy parts, and both are different side to side. Ended up having custom hoses made and Russell fittings installed etc for the new brake hard lines that were fabbed by my buddy here 'Dr Phil'. More than an afternoon's work, but the results are outstanding.

Disadvantage of disc brakes, is that the factory sway bar does not work with the additional bracketry for the backing plate. I will eventually get a custom sway bar made locally.

Are my eyes deceiving me? Are you mounting one brake to to front and one to rear? Probably not a good idea on the front axle.

Looking at post 19 looks like there's plenty to spare. Would you think 14's would slide over? Thanks again for the help.
Check the specs on the kit. A lot of them require 15” wheels. Craig

Those are called "hydro-vac" booster, not to be confused by the hydro-boost hydraulic boosters fed by power steering. They used to be popular for such things as Jeeps

The Dodge A100 has all four corners on leaf springs.....may be why you appear to be confused with my pictures. Drum brakes on an 8-3/4" rear end similar to cars.....only big difference is the spring perches are underneath on the trucks.
