Newbie question. Having trouble identifying this thing in the interior. It's located on the driver's side foot well, on the side closest to the door. I don't have an owner manual to reference, I wasn't able to find one online, and the service manual I have is roughly 800 pages so while it may be in there, in my quick thumbing through of it, I wasn't able to find anything. I tried searching here, ebay, google, and youtube also with no luck. Any help would be appreciated! I'm new to these a bodies and mopars in general. Thanks!

Welcome aboard We appreciate seeing new young people come in. Just don't mention an LS swap :mob: and you'll be okay.

Headlight "dimmer switch."

When you turn on the headlight switch, it feeds power to the "common" terminal of that switch which is properly known as a SPDT or "Single Pole Double Throw" and some guys call these a "two way switch" but that is not the proper technical term

The switch has a center terminal to which headlight power is fed, and no matter which way it rests, power goes to either the hi or the lo beams. "Mashing" it of course switches to the opposite circuit

Section 8 of you factory manual, "electrical"

Well Del, you just blew the Op's mind:)

Welcome aboard @SincerePuppet. Lots of great folks and info to be found here.:canada:

Assuming you are young, some other things you may not have experienced.

Under the dash on both sides are air vents,
Turn handle open door and cool air will come out.

Be sure to clean it out BEFORE you open it at speed or you will get a face full of accumulated debris.

Carborated engines take awhile to get started if they have not been run in awhile.

If you are used to modern vehicles just take a big radiator hose clamp and attach it to the steering column...

Yeahh I knew about these things already although I haven't gone through and cleaned them yet. Thanks for looking out though! Just never heard of the high beam switch being on the floor until I googled it after getting responses here haha

When I got my first classic, I was told about the foot operated high beam switch. Damn near crashed the car the first time I drove in the dark when I got my foot stuck in the steering wheel.

@SincerePuppet dont let these fools get you down.

Most of us are old enough to have learned to drive in these cars. My guess is your young enough to have never even been driven in one. It is ok to ask any and all questions, most of us will answer you streight.

Also incase you did not know, mymopar.com has downloadable factory service manuals and parts books.

Some top of the line cars have 2 of those, the other is for changing the radio channel. Not joking. Had a 1960 Chrysler and 1967 imperial with it.

All these guys are fulla ****. That's the flux capacitor switch. You hit it with your foot when you get to 88MPH and it transports you through time.
