Without knowing beforehand, has anyone been surprised finding someone you knew personally participating on a game show? Friend, neighbor, relative, co-worker, classmate, arch rival/enemy etc. I am still looking.

None by chance,

Knew about:
1. Name That Tune
2. Newlywed Game
3. (don't recall show)
4. Survivor

None that I recall. Most of the people I know would probably end up on Judge Judy.
Although I was somewhat fascinated by the Match game episode back when the girl picked the serial killer for her date.

does Cops count ? lol I know a guy in Lansing that won a car on the spring break college Price is Right , he was lucky the other stuff he won on the way to the car covered the tax because he barely had the gas money to get it back to Michigan .

I had a phone call from a friend saying that he was watching me on TV on a motoring show here about 15 years ago.

Not a game show, but I caught my former roommate and co-worker (Border Patrol Agent) on an extended news segment giving the broadcaster a tour of the US/Mexican border area known as "smuggler's gulch" in San Diego County/Tijuana area. He gave a very good, professional presentation. I was very proud of him. I had not seen/spoken to him for years, so it took me by surprise.

I had an electrical supply customer show up on the news....was in a standoff with the police with a crossbow! I saw him on the nightly local news and said, "Dude, thats Mark from ****** Electric!!!" Just spoke with him about 4 days prior to that. Totally normal guy. 2 students from my kids school (friends) were interviewed at the county fair....My Mom was on "Lets make a Deal" in the 70's...was even picked! She won a wig....she doesn't even wear one!

Oh yeah, forgot my ex brother in law was on 5 "American Bandstand" tapings as a random dancer.

We lived out in the desert for 4 yrs, my wife was on "the price is right." They told the girls coming in, the sillier they acted, the better chance they would have of being picked. She got picked, I was setting back in Victorville watching with a broken neck from a car accident. She was embarrassing , but got picked. There was a girl on each side of her and the first didn`t have a clue about cost and worth. The one after her over bid the wife by one dollar on everything, and won the car that we desperately needed-----1500 miles from home and no car ! Was very disappointing . Life ain`t always fair !
We probably couldn`t have paid the taxes on it anyway .

I'm three degrees separated from the guys that are calling the Buccaneers football games this season.

I went to school with Chris Spielman's nephew and Thom Brenaman's cousin was the Bass player in my band in 1987.

Hahaha that made me spew my diet coke!! Lol
Man that was awkward as hell I'm setting here in the break room in dead silence and start laughing my *** off spewing coke threw my nose. Lol thanks for the laughter bro!
was it funny because it was a funny joke, or was it funny because recognized her right away too ?

My niece was on Price Is Right about 10 years ago. She won a huge aquarium off the row, then a car off the stage game. The episode didn't air for a few months. She couldn't tell anyone anything before it aired. Front plate "I won this car on Price Is Right" was to stay on it for 1 year.

A local guy was an Alaskan State Trooper for a few years, so he was a regular on the TV show. Was watching it one night and they said Trooper Anthony Stariha and I was like, What? It’s Tony!!! He has since moved back and is a county K9 deputy down in diy mirage’s neck of the woods now.

I poured concrete with him for a summer before he went to the academy.

No, but I once met Captain Kangaroo at a church festival as a kid...
Did you ever hear that Cap'n Kangaroo would spend his off time as a hobo, hanging around burning barrels, hoping freight trains, etc..? I always wondered if maybe he was he a wino? A homo? or just a bit ecentric? I never wondered enough to do any research though. Never really cared what kind of dirt the media could throw on him. Off topic here anyway, but...
While I'm at it, One of my best friends in grade school had a huge 'T' scar in his chest where he had open heart surgery as a toddler. He met the actor that played Dennis The Menace. This was like 55 years ago when open heart surgery was the new frontier. I'll never forget that framed photo. His prized posession. R.I.P. Crawford. As far as internet shows the actor Jay North is still with us.
