I've always loved the 70/71 Swinger body, and specially love the 70 Swinger 340. I like the tail lamps on the 71 better tho. I've been on the lookout for a roller to build for the 340/727 that came out of the Duster I had. I finally found one, and the price was right ( Free ) . It's a 72 body, needing pretty much everything. I'll start with 70/71 Quarters, front fenders, and grill. When I arrived to pick it up, I found out the roof had been used on another project, and the old one was on the car. So, I either need to find a roof. or fix the holes in this one and attach it to the car. I'll use the 318 K-member out of my Demon, and now I'm thinking of the 8.75 now as well, and go Dana 60 ( Free as well ) for the stroked 383 going in the Demon. Interior will match the Demon as I have two complete late model Dart interiors, for free.

What color should I go with? I'm leaning toward Plumb Crazy, and B5 Blue. Not a fan of green, so that is out. Not sure about gold, silver, or copper...

I'll add a poll...

Based on the condition alone....... two tone.

Bankrupt Black and Blue.

That’s not something to build. It has served it’s purpose, and was then parted out. RIP

if the floors are good (all of them) it's worth doing, otherwise it has plenty of parts there to use on another car. just because it's free doesn't always make it a good project.
neil.

If there's enough there to build back with, TB3 Super Blue/Basin Street Blue. Otherwise, find a another one and use what you need from that one. Sell what's left as individual pieces so that other cars may live on.

None of the above paint and building/parting advise. When you get it done I’d paint it whatever white mopar had that year like spinnaker white with black vinyl top and black stripe. Or paint it black with white stripe and no vinyl top. Build it, enjoy the journey, learn as you go. You will not be disappointed. It doesn’t look that bad. Every car you do after this one will share your learnt experience.

There is a good reason that car was free. LOOK at it. What hasn’t been removed or cut off. This is a 72 dart, go buy a much better car and be way ahead of this one.

Wife won't let me buy another Dart, if I can even find one I could afford.

You work with what you have.

Just look at the time and money to make a car out of that. Save the money you will waste on that hulk and buy a good (better) body to start with.

Wife is looking out for you on this one. Just make your other cars better with the time/money.

Nice, was going to do mine similar, but I am kind of hung up on the hood scoops, I dont know if I want body color or satin black. I also want the vinyl top, black bee stripe and go wing...

Gotta add the stripe, I opted for no go wing and I painted the hood gloss. Here a different shot.

I'm surprised with how many nay sayers there are to saving a car.

The question isn't if the car is a core to start with or not because it actually is a place to start. The real question is do your skills match this level of model kit or not. The next question after that is do you have an adequately equipped facility in which you will build this kit car.

If the answers to both of those real questions are yes then best wishes.

The car itself is just sheet metal. There's nothing whimsical or exotic about sheet metal. It's all about if you have the magic in your hands to make **** happen or not.

I don't see sheet metal being the road block but paper, ordinary paper.
Do yourself a favor and ditch the wifey and enjoy the build and enjoy being one of the few and proud REAL mopar owners.

Sorry to say if your wife won’t ‘let’ you buy another Dart. What happens when you have to buy thousands of dollars of parts? Good luck with the project. You are going to need lots of parts.

@chlngr1970

Further proof that you have no clue what you are doing, on your poll you have colors listed. Among them are Hemi orange and Tor red.

Well they are the exact same color. No difference! EV2
You cannot make this stuff up! LOL

If you like the 71 tail lights better.....you got it. 71-73 used the same tail lights. Well, 71 had the stainless trim in them but otherwise the same.
You really should find something more complete to start with. Save that one to cut patch panels from. That thing is nothing but a parted out shell. It will cost half or less to buy another complete car than to buy all the pieces to put that back together.
See my avatar for the correct color choice.
