Well, I’m back with another 68’ barracuda

Congrats! Ouch on the red one! Glad yer ok!
Beautiful car! Altho it appears to have 67 pieces on it, but its gorgeous!
and again, that is because of the parts shortage caused by railroad strikes just as they were changing from 67 to 68. I had a silver 68 (build date) notchback fish just like it. It still had 67 grilles, reverse lamp switch on the shifter, burlwood instead of linear wood grain, and more 67 fish bones that didn't totally disappear until March or April of 68 builds. My 68 did have the round side markers, spears and gills, lower dash pads, (just like this red example) and many other 68 parts but it wasn't a true 68 beyond its VIN. Gosh it pains me to see that red car upside down. If it went to a bone yard, the vultures feasted.
I have to add this... I've put a lot of thought into why there are so many green survivors, regardless of brand. At first I tought it was because so many geens were available back then. I had a 72 model Impala that was one of the best kept used vehicles I have ever seen.
Today I honestly belive that the initial buyer/owner of a green car has a different mindset from those who took a red, blue, or black car off the new car lot. I'll go so far as to say there is a underlying reason they don't offer tree greens on new vehicles today. Majority of what they have on the line is some shade of grey, with some reds, and blues in the mix. Bottom line.. While I'm not a big fan of green, I think I know why it is a good buy. Happy moparing to all.
