Among other "things" I have a Kahr CW40 so called sriker fired, acts like DA only, some sort of damn poor plastic frame.

I've had a number of various jams / misfires, the latest being the recent outing with some other board members.

EVERY time I've pulled it apart to clean it, the (plastic) frame has generated "threads" that are being peeled off by the slide. Not sure the cause, you cannot get into those slide grooves to 'feel' or dress them very handily

Other intense dislike is there is VERY poor clearance to get the recoil guide pin back in You must install the barrel, the spring, the pin, and compress the pin and "hook" it in the front of the barrrel lug. Almost impossible to do. The construction of the barrel bushing does not permit enough angle and interferes with the sides of the recoil spring

Anybody, suggestions, good "sure fire" tune up tricks? etc?

ALTERNATIVELY, a similar "acting" weapon that is still compact, still DA only AND ALL METAL. I will concede to a light alloy frame

What I want is small lightweight and DA only, meaning, no safety if possible. That lets out 1911 or any other SA pistol I guess it doesn't have to be a .40, a 9 is ok

I still have the Browning BDM but it's too big and heavy

The Kahr would have been fine if it was reliable, but I've lost confidence in it

Look at the NAA Guardian.

S&W shield if you want simple. I have the 45 version. The nine is pretty small and they have a double stack one now. Good pricing too.

I know I will get thrown under the bus on this p111 Torus 9mm, but it was a must to have for the price of carry, fit my small hands very well, and I have over 250 rounds threw it, easy to clean and maintain with two 13 count clips.
I would love to own a nicer one for open carry, but it's been a great little pistol for near 4 years now.

A Gunsmith friend of mine tells me that 95% of semi auto jamming prblems are related to the clip and lack of proper maintenence.
For this reason I do not carry a semi auto for my conceal carry.

CZ 75 D compact.

It is a decocker version of the 75 compact. now called the 75D PRC and the 75 P-01 is the pic rail version. There is also standard safety version. The P-01 is the NATO approved and carried by more police around the world than any other gun.

Best thing you could do is go to a range that rents different guns and shoot them to see what you like and fits you the best.

Look at the Smith & Wesson, M&P 2.0 compact with a 3.6 barrel in 9 or 40, great guns. I have the 9, 15 round to go with my older full size M&P 40. Awesome guns, never had any problems at all.

I have two Taurus g2c's(one in 9mm and one in .40).I also have a Taurus PT 709 slim (single stack 9mm) for front pocket carry.
I had a shield but it didn't fit my hand as well.

my p111 is my first Taurus to own, shot with a few and liked it, so I bought one and the fit couldn't be better. Thank you for chiming in

I carry a Sig P290 DAO, chambered in 9mm, everyday. It's compact, not too heavy and with extended mag gives you 8 and 1, it carries well IWB at 3:30.

It is a polymer frame, but I have had zero issues with it.

A lot of truth to that. When conceal carrying lint builds up all over, when I clean my handgun I also pull the mags apart and clean them as well.

Aren't they still a non-metallic lower frame? I have thought about them.

This may be a "long search" LOLOL

I'm also thinking "there's polymer and there's polymer". this Kahr frame, you can wiggle, squeeze, and deform the frame rails all over the map. **** with my old crippled fingers I CAN SQUEEZE the top of the rails and move them in 1/8--3/16!!!!!

I really like my Ruger LC9. I shot a SW 9mm at the range one of those EZ ones and I like my LC9 better. I have a light weight 38sp that is a real nice carry gun too. I like the simplicity of a revolver.

The S&W 2.0 is a polymer lower, reinforced with stainless steel, it makes flex almost non existent.

A friend had a few Kahr pistols for carry and they sucked. The slide was way too hard to pull back on a small frame and it was a PITA to clean. I'd rather have a Taurus .040

Taurus makes a nice gun. Nothing wrong with um.

It sure doesn't sound like it from your description. Plastic and sheet metal. I totally take your word for it though since you have one and I've never seen one. They're makin guns outta some fantastic stuff nowadays.

It is a non-metallic lower, but if it can live with the stress a 45acp puts on it, it will go forever with a 9mm. Eliminating a polymer lower really restricts your choices in a small pistol for anything being made currently. They are much lighter than even an aluminum frame and probably last longer than aluminum due to the steel inserts the slide runs on in most cases. I am a pretty hardcore single action trigger snob, but I can live with the triggers on the Shield and the Canik that I picked up. These safe action triggers have come a long way.
