Hi all ,

im looking for the Plastic (?) pieces that go in the vent window channels ( 69 Dart ) I can not think of the names of the so let’s call then window sliders . Anyone have any suggestions on where to get them ??

My memory is scratchy but I guess those are them , much more $ then I would have guessed

Because it has all the parts for the window, I don't know if you can just buy the plastic pieces but call or email them...

These were out of stock for almost a year because the only company that made them closed up during Covid. I will warn you of 2 things (just installed them in my 70 Dart). To install them you have to take the whole door window/vent window assembly out of the car. When you install these they will be really hard to roll up and down - you have to pull up and down on the glass to get them to work - after several days of rolling them up and down several times a day they are loosening up and I think they will eventually work fine. Don't put the door panels on until they work right for you because if you roll them all the way down and they don't want to come up, you have to get your hand under the glass to assist them up. I adjusted my down stops so that the window wouldn't roll all the way down, until they work the way they should. By the way be careful when you take what's left of the old seals out because you have to trim the new material to match the old ones, both for length and a notch at the top to clear that rubber seal at the top of the channel. I posted pics of this replacement a couple weeks ago, but now I can't find them. If you need pics PM me.

The guides or sliders were available seperately on ebay but that sold out too.
The channel run kit from mopar performance was 55 dollars per door years ago. 125 for both doors is about right today.

There is a mirror image plastic piece on the other side of the glass and they are held together with a metal pin between the two in a pair. There's a pair at the top and bottom of the glass. What is tight is the plastic pieces, plus the flocked plastic seal. You have to install the plastic glides and the seal on the glass and then feed them up the channel from the bottom and then install the whole thing in the door. At the very bottom is a near 90 degree bracket. This is definitely a "two sets of hands" project to get them back in. Unless your glass sweeps at the top of the door are new. This is the time to install new ones because it's hard to get the glass in or out with the sweeps in place - pull the old ones, install the glass, adjust he down stops so you can get the glass below the sill, then put the new sweeps in place...

What years are those for. Where the originals clear. Mine are clear and those white guides look a lot bigger than mine. 67 Baracuda

That's the same color of glide as the ones that have been in every 70 Dart I've disassembled (half a dozen) - given that the old ones were yellowed and brittle with age. The plastic of the original seals (not the glides) were clear plastic with black flocking. These ones in black plastic are currently the only game in town and the kits provide enough material for both sides, A or B body - everything with a vent window. Some of the doors I've disassembled the seal had gotten brittle and the part closest to the channel was in pieces in the bottom of the door., some were so degraded that the black flocking was worn off and all that remained was the plastic part of the seal.

So true. Good advice. Been there.

My mind saw "Lets call them window lickers".

spent all day yesterday installing these new plastic sliders with a lot of difficulty the little pin's or dowels upon close inspection were cut with a very dull cutter and more or less crimped and would not let them seat in the plastic sliders, which there holes are not deep enough or the correct shape to allow the slider to come together enough to fit in the window channel, ended up using the old plastic sliders with new flocked seal window slides with perfect resistance. reminds me of an old steve martin movie, at these prices you would think you could keep the snails off the plate

I agree whole heartedly, but for about a year I couldn't find ANY of these and therefore couldn't reassemble my car. I guess beggars can't be choosers. By the way, I think I ran into this before - my windows are really hard to roll up and down and it seems to be tightness at the sliders. Are yours the same? I think the only way to get them loosened up is to roll the window up and down about 50 times. I think that this was true 15 years ago the last time I did this.

Not sure if it's related but I just put new window felts on my '72 Dodge pickup, it was REALLY hard to roll the window up and down at first so I cleaned the window and then liberally applied Rain-X water repellant and they're much easier to move now, doesn't feel like I'll break off the window crank now lol.

Also if anyone else does these make sure the door glass is clean first, mine had a bunch of built-up dust which must have had sand in it because now my window has some vertical scratches :(

the plastic after market sliders upon real close inspection were the culprits they are not formed like the originals. the sockets are not deep enough to allow the pins to seat, which holds the shoe slider to far apart. i used the original plastic sliders they were not broken but a little yellowed and the windows slide okay, that's what turned this into a all day job i put it to gether with the after market sliders and with alot of force could barely move the glass up or down, i know there is no way that crank mechanism is going handle that much force. i know people on this forum hate complaints we should just smile and be so happy but that is not how change happen's exactly the opposite happens. anyone that has bought this kit for a 125.00 dollar's and can only use the 2 cheap pieces of plastic channel and feel good about there purchase i would just say you don't work for your money like i do

Someone should be able to 3D print these sliders for very little cost. If someone was really good with design, they could tweak the size to make them actually work.

Charging $125 for a window “kit” when all you need are the sliders is highway robbery!

my thought exactly. i'm not a tech savy guy but i;ve seen enough about those 3D printers to know it would be a easy task to copy the originals and print them were not talking rocket science[maybe we are].the ones they are selling have those little plastic tits on them like a injection molded piece there would be the problem there mold is wrong. but that doesn't seem to keep them from selling them for 125 dollars

If one of you guys could post a decent drawing with all of the dimensions I could make a 3D model in SolidWorks which you should be able to then give to anyone with a 3D printer. We have a printer at work but it's not really for personal projects.

In my experience it's not just the sliders and not even primarily the sliders (the white plastic pieces), it's the flocked piece that goes around the edge of the glass that seals the glass to the frame. Without it the wind just always whistles right there in front of you next to your left ear. You aren't going to make those on a 3D printer.
