In 2008, I bought a 74 Dart Sport with the intention of cloning it into a 70-71 Duster. It's far from a resto. It's just a street/strip/hot rod thing.
I bought this truck:Need Help W/ I.D.
for the driveline.
It's been slow going. (Duh, it's 2021!) I intend to get it all together and sorted out, then take it apart to paint and detail everything.
It was a 198, 3 on the tree, with no P/S or P/B. It was pretty much rust free, had clutch linkage if I go stick, and I didn't want P/S or P/B because it is a hot rod.
Now it has the 360, 727 and 9" Ford from the D150. I also grabbed the rad, shifter, Autometer gauges and anything else I might need. I sold what was left of the truck for parts, and scrapped it.
I looked through the engine, because the PO didn't know too much about it. It checked out good! 2.02 ported J heads, 292 Mopar cam, 11.25 compression. I just put new bearings and rings in it while it was apart. I had it running 2 years ago (gas from a gas can line, i didn't want gas to sit in my new tank), and all seems good.
The trans is a manual valve body with a 3500ish convertor and a cooler.
The rear is a limited slip w/ 4.10 gears. The truck had ladder bars, but I went with the 6 cyl. leaf springs, with the front half clamped, for now. I put poly bushings in them. I'll probably go with Cal-Tracs eventually. The bolt pattern turned out to be GM, with 9.5" GM drums! So I got the drums and axles re-drilled to 4 1/2".
I put all new poly bushings and ball joints up front. (I used Delrin lower control arm bushings)
I used a Wilwood kit to upgrade the front brakes, and get the 4 1/2" pattern for the wheels.
I have the interior about 3/4 done. It was ugggleee before! (Well, the whole car was hardly a gem.) I repainted the dash, used a dash pad cover, found Corbeau seats (on FABO) and got new door panels, headliner (tough to install, still not 100%) and carpet. The door panels aren't on yet, I have to paint the inside of the doors.
In the "light weight" department, I used fiberglass fenders, hood and bumpers. The bumper brackets and bolts are aluminum. I bought the aluminum stuff from a member on here. "Lingenfelter". I can't recall his user name just now. I also scraped about 30 lbs. of undercoating. The Weld wheels also lighten things up.
That's all I can think of right now. Major things to get it running: Fuel system, battery in trunk and related hardware, trans cooler lines, tail lights, door handles, and probably a few other things. I have my notes in the garage.

Cool.....

Now that's the way you hook up a beaker car!!great job that's the only way to do a 73-76...are those super comps or hustlers?

Nice! I like the combination, best of both the later cars and the early ones.

FYI, bumper brackets are made/sold by @motorhead446
Thanks, I knew it was something about 446.

Thanks. I didn't start out to find a beaker, but the beakers are cheaper and this one had little rust. I like the 70-71's because they were the high compression, big intake valve muscle cars. The 71 was even better because of the Thermoquad.
The way I look at it, I did the world a service by eliminating a beaker, and creating one of the "good years". (With apologizes to beaker fans.) Besides, those beaker bumpers and all the related crap weighed, I think, 160#!
The headers are Super Comp 1 3/4". I found a NOS set on eBay.

What you got going there... looks darned good!
