Anyone in Canada running a Whiplash cam? Where’d you buy it? Their Canadian dealer list is woefully out of date. They wont sell one to Canada unless you have a credit card from a US bank, which, from Canada, I cant get. Also, have a few more questions to ask a Whiplash cam owner.

Bank of Montreal is an international bank. Several branches here in Wisconsin, BMO Harris.

Why not have someone in the US buy one and forward it to you???

I could do that. I also have other questions about the cams that Dave’s too busy to answer, apparently….thats one reason why I’d like to talk to someone that owns one up here.

Whiplash cams don't like cold weather... That's why they won't sell them to anyone that far north.... :poke:

We have a Hughes cam in my son's 360... I wasn't happy with their service and don't like dealing with them...

I specifically ordered a hydraulic roller cam WITH the nose for the fuel pump eccentric for his 91 360 which is a factory roller cam LA motor... I told them that I was willing to wait for the proper cam... They send me one WITHOUT the long nose and included their shitty "cam nose extension kit" (costing another $30) instead of sending me the proper cam that I asked for....

The cam nose extension kit had a small cube of aluminum that's supposed to take the place of a keyway... What a piece of **** that was... I went to a local hardware store and bought a steel keyway and ground it down to fit.... I had to fix their under designed product....

What bank are they turning you down with? I am in Canada and was hoping to place an order with them in the next week or so once I finalize the details of my short block.

I bank with RBC which has American branches, I don’t have a US specific credit card anymore since we haven’t been able to travel in so long.
Do they accept PayPal?

Think the Hughes cams are ground by Howard’s which is Competition Products.

Chrysler SB 273-360 '65-'95, 318 '67-'95 Cams

Downloads | Howards Cams

Here is the lobe list. The cost of a custom ground vs a off the shelf is 20 bucks more. Only thing may be delivery time. There is lobes they grind on the list that match the whiplash, coustom ground. I ordered a Howard’s a few months back. Took 8 weeks for delivery..

Also bet you won’t have the same billing issues with Competition Products. Which is NOT Comp Cams.

Here’s a quote from Dave…”Your credit card must have a U.S. bank.”

I deal with TD, which IS in the US. He hasn’t responded back to that yet.

“Our dealers in Canada are listed on our website under Dealer Locator.”

They’re Canadian dealer list is out of date. The places he lists are either out of business, or dont handle Hughes cams anymore.

PayPal would probably need the US bank credit card as well.

You can get a USD prepaid credit card from cibc and reload when you plan to buy something.
I also have a usd bank account to buy american when the dollar is in my favour
I am sure the other banks have that option.

And you saw the Hughes would not accept payment from Canada / Dave being too busy to anwser some questions.... giving the op some other options..
I only chat with Tim when dealing with Hughes.

I have ordered & paid by Visa, Australian bank, with Hughes, Summit, Mancini. Never had a problem.

what do you think makes this cam so special you could get it from hughes exclusively? I´d ask Jesse Robinson (member RAMM here, SKMFX Engines in Ontario) regarding his suggestion. If they do not want your money, spend it elsewhere.

Thanks KK. I also want to know if I have to run their "Hi-Performance" lifters, (which are out-of-stock anyway) or can I run any standard hydraulic flat tappet lifters with this cam? Are non-stock pushrods req'd....adjustable rockers...etc...etc...!

We ran Rhoades variable duration lifters in our engine... They bleed down at idle and take out about .015" lift and 25° duration, then ramp up and give full lift and duration by 3500 RPM....

We ran stock stamped steel non-adjustable rockers...
