California city considering decriminalized zone for auto 'sideshows'

I think doing burnouts in a big circle is the dumbest **** ever and a waste of tires... ...but to each is own.

I'll also add... drag strips back in the day had better characters and we're safer than what these clowns are doing in the intersection.

Great idea, rather than stopping the stupidity, let's sanction it. I know that the first drag strips were created to make the public safer, however it was a private entity that spearheaded the effort and utilized private property IIRC.

yup, starts here, next it will be "a right" every were else

They treated it like skateparks.

Which is kind of a mixed double edged sword idea. Now any and everyone thinks they can skateboard and they don't bring the right mentality or attitude and therefore you know where to go to get drugs, any skatepark. Back in the day clicks were for a reason it was a filter , you had to make the cut. You had to fit in with the right attitude and talent. Now with these tuner clowns..its mad max thunder dome ...bystanders killed, people shot, fights, vandalism. Apes shitting everywhere

Ya know…. I dunno. I kinda like the idea of it… pullin up in big bad mopar showin them kids what TORQUE is. :D

Exactly. It's like the little 1/8 mile strip about 30 miles away from us. It's total ghetto. There's always fighting going on down there. I ain't been on probably thirty years. I don't like 1/8 mile anyway.

The problem is these guys get off on tying up traffic as much as they enjoy the "sport." So having a parking lot somewhere to shine their laser lights through the tire smoke doesn't have the same appeal.

Drag racers back in the day were all about the racing, so a safe, sanctioned location was ideal to them. Plus, by the time the first dragstrips were built, the really serious guys were already up at Muroc or El Mirage a few times a year anyway.
