Has anyone here used rattle cans to touch up red interior on a ‘67 A body? I know Herb’s has a metallic red listed for 1964-1968. I just want to freshen up a few spots on my 1967 Dodge Dart GT. It’s a driver, not a show car… but a few spots are rough or faded (like the console). I’ll post a few pics to help. Any advice would be appreciated!

I would suggest- buy a can (or two as shipping is horrible on aerosols lately)

try it. Just remember that color may be exact but your paint is faded or 50+ years old. Apple to oranges at this point. Close is good enough. Remember these cars never had all matching colors inside from the factory. So “close” is awesome. Good
Luck!

Bad luck with their 67 metallic blue.

Not even close.

Several years ago I carried a clean 67 B'cuda metallic red sun visor and a NOS metallic red arm rest pad into a local paint store that custom mixed SEM. The guy nailed it. A quart in RTS was 72 dollars. I don't know if I still have that formula here or not.

Not sure what it would cost today, but the SEM vinyl i an aersols is lke what $16-18 a can!!! Good stuff in general, but..

If you end up finding it, please let me know. Otherwise I think I’ll try a can or two of this stuff like Syleng1 said…. And then try a paint match if that fails to satisfy me.

No. It's for my 67 Belvedere wagon back burner project.

Car has original paint and is not faded inside.

I have pics on the B body side if you want me to dig them up.

I also ordered the only green they listed for 1973 and it DID NOT match my 1973 F6 interior.
(you know, the green 85% of all Mopars made have for an interior....?)

Well, the previous owner used Duplicolor color match for a GM red for the bracket under the steering column. I guess it matches the paint on my door better than the faded dash.

I almost decided to redo the interior in black. Seems like it’s be easier that way. But I plan to do the exterior in black, and a close friend (and big Mopar nut) talked me into sticking with red.

The shades of the various interior colors for the metal trim is listed on back side of the OEM paint charts if you can find such. I used to have them, but have no idea where they are after I moved to Tx.

Huh. That’s interesting. Thank you for that info. I’ll have to do some research into that.

The part that I see people mess up with is not realizing that in the interior it is never one color or should I say shade. Up front NO gloss color where the dash would cause glare. There always must be a certain amount of contrast due to amount of gloss or lack of.
Take a car with black interior. There are always several shades of black on seats, door panels, upper door window trim and then there is the dash and sometimes the dash pad! Several different shades O or amount of gloss vs flattener, of black!

I used some dark red on my 68 Cuda. I shot the horn button with it. Color is pretty close but you gotta figure 50 years on the original parts they tend to fade.

I got some herb's red for my Lancer. Garbage. Cost a lot and was flat as hell.
I got some duplicolor red and it turned out well.
Expensive lesson.

I know you said it was flat, but was it flat like the factory dashes tend to be? I know a lot of people prefer to redo the dash in a glossier paint than original.

I thought what I purchased was the red for the door tops and such, not the dash.
Of course a 62 Lancer did not have a flat dash like the 67 up A Bodies, so maybe that was my mistake. The color chip looks gloss to me.
And yes it was flat like a flat dash.

Okay, sorry that it didn’t work out for you.. but your input is very helpful for me. Thank you so much for that my friend.

Since I am old I wonder about such as when the factory started using arylic enamel with the gloss hardner and if at what point maybe they were still using alkyd enamel and maybe used it in the interior in the early 60s. Back when I was a kid on the 60s I made my extra buckets painting horse/stock trailers, I used alkyd enamel till I discovered the acrylic/hardner! LOL
Our 62 Lancer has its original dash/int paint but hard to tell anything as it is what 60 years old!!!
