Looks great, let me know when you want to come do my bathroom

Worked on this 65 Sears Spaceliner. Stripped the fenders. Repacked the front bearings. Probably ditch the tank. All chrome frame. Lightening the load. My wife’s new multi speed bike cannot keep up with my old Schwin. After she rode my bike she wants a cool cruiser bike too.

It's been a Hit@Miss adventure for me, really enjoy breathing new life in these One lungers'.

My wife really likes her bike. I could barely keep up with her. Speed racer. Still may take the tank off. The chrome frame is to cool to hide.

Restored an old outside clock and thermometer. There is a lizard that gets in behind them somehow.

today i mostly stripped the 383 engine out of my mate's monaco. i just have the damper, timing cover and set before the crankshaft comes out to go for a grind. that is if it's not too far gone on no's 1 and 2 big end journals. they are worn pretty bad with a noticeable ridge in the centre between them. the bores are all good though with no lip to be felt on all 8 which is a plus. the oil pickup pipe was loose which would contribute to the bearing wear as air could be sucked up into the oil pump, not good. the cam and lifters are toast so will need replacing too. my mate was told the heads were 'gone through' recently, but i'll strip them while the crank's away just to be sure having seen what the rest is like.

Posted this in the "random pics" thread too
Been pulling some weeds around the fireplace

i finished stripping the 383 today and dropped the crank' off to my machinist for a regrind. 2-3 weeks before he can get to it but that's fine as i've plenty of other stuff to do before then. here's a random pic.

They haven't sent us back the office yet, so the last couple of months, along with getting my 13 yr old son involved in the Shelby project, on the weekends, I've been spending the occasional lunch hour-ish in the garage slowly putting it back together. Did the front steel brake lines the other day or two. We dropped the 360 in after school the other day. Today I finished the underside of bolting the trans and motor together. Next move is the hard brake line to the rear and the 2 inch lowering blocks for the rear. Also can start picking away at the accessories in the engine bay.
It's getting there.

I've also got to fix one of the bridges on the model railroad. The kids were playing with it the other month and said the track came apart. Said they tried to fix it. Still have engines and cars all over the platform and some of the buildings mysteriously moved. All I can say is they must have been having a good time. After all, that's why I built it "during my lunch breaks" last Spring when covid lock down started.

poxy common rail diesel cheap fix.
went to gt yarmouth last week for a break with dawn. we got there fine in my daily c-max 2.0 tdci, dropping off a camaro t5 gearbox on the way as you do but it wouldn't start the next morning. the aa decided it was the fuel pump in the tank (i now know the tdci's don't have one) so they relayed us home at the end of the week. i did what i've done several times now with common rail diesel's that won't start once they've sat a while. i fitted a facet red top type pump inline between the tank and filter housing so it primes the system while the glow plugs do their thing. there are so many 'o' rings on modern diesel fuel systems that it's very hard to find just where they let air in when it's sitting but the pump just primes it and they go. i had a cooling fan fitting kit so nicked the pre wired relay from that and piggy backed an ignition live in the fuse box to switch it. i even made a steel male male connector from a bit of round bar on my lathe to correctly clip into the filter housing, very professional lol. the pump is an easy fix and most importantly..... cheap

Yeah but did it work?
yep, once the air was 'purged' from the system (i sprayed brake cleaner in the inlet 'til it ran on it's own) it's 'on the button' and revs fine. it's worked on all of the about half a dozen or more i've done over the years so i thought it's worth a mention.

Looking good!
I can't take a bunch of pics to share but... Our entire master bedroom suit is outside, under shed, and a tarp. Ceiling painted, walls painted, trim painted. Still need to empty the walk in closet so she can paint in there. Our matress has been on the floor for about 3 weeks now (we're old and slow). We turned mattress on edge and slid it into the closet while painting in the BR. Put it back in the floor, throw some sheets on it and crash. Its nearly as bad a sleeping bag when getting up in the morning. God bless the cowboys. LOL
We're using the Kinsser Kilz stain cover on the ceilings and ran out, and its sold out everywhere. We must have bought the last gallon. Screeching halt.
What worries me more is the new carpet. No doubt she will want something that takes 6 weeks or more to get. Are we having fun yet?
