What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Im sitting here watching the beast collect dust.
I took a 9mm bullet in the knee last Tuesday evening and im afraid my clutch driving days are done for this season.

Ouch. Course we need to know the rest of the story. Nice Dart.
There was some foolishness going on in my garage. Certain person messing with my pistol didn’t know I keep a round in the chamber, and shot me. Broke my femur, which was fixed with a rod. Fortunately the bullet passed through behind my knee, so I will heal. Actually getting around pretty good on the crutches, and not much pain.

Trunk lids on!First time in 4 years. Its been leaning against the wall since I started this project. Now I gotta get a ducktail spoiler for it.

Dang, lucky it wasn't worse, sorry to hear about that, but I would be willing to take the Dart out for a little exercise.

Thanks, but I live down the street from the US Nationals, formerly known as Indianapolis Raceway Park. I might be a little out of your jurisdiction!
Once the leg heals, if its dry and above 45°f, I'll have it on the road!

I dropped the boy of at school in the duster today...always good for his street cred

Remember I let the young buck borrow the duster a few days ago?
Turns out his waist is a little smaller then mine too...I had to readjust the lap belt for the first time in years

Rule #1, treat every firearm as if it were loaded

FMJ?

I've broken a femur once, no fun, they can take a minute to heal

I was there in 2005 on the Hot Rod Power Tour, great facility.

Drove 34 miles with my Other Half to the VFW Post in Salem, AR for their "Fun Day" (car show, a few tractors and trucks, live band, free hot dogs). Had a nice day and cruised back home. Never went over half throttle and 4200 rpm shifts due to passenger presence, and it's still pretty zippy on two-lane blacktop roads!

My buddy, Jim, and I discovered the driver's side float, in my Edelbrock 1406, was filled with gas. Jim, with his much younger eyes, was able to R & R both floats and adjust them as per the instructions. Hopefully the weather will allow me to take it out for a ride/drive tomorrow.

This is Jim's Killer Bee:

With that big motor, no wonder it can get "zippy!"

True, a 451 is reasonably large in displacement - but with a 272@.050 cam, it's just coming on the power band at 3000. I haven't yet had the nerve, or an empty road with no ditches on the sides, to run it up to 6500 or more!

Anyway, today I installed a Wagner tunable PCV valve. I had to slightly (about 1/4 turn) close my secondaries down to maintain the same 1100 rpm idle speed. It does seem to help with the tendency to drop below a stable idle rpm when coasting down in gear. That always makes coming to a stop sign fun, since I don't have three feet :D

All weekend and I didn't do a thing to the 'Cuda.....
Sometimes a guy just needs a weekend off and do nothing. ...I'm pretty burned out from all the hours at work. So I was lazy this weekend! (I feel a lot more rested for what THAT'S worth!)

I'll get back to work on it next weekend. ...

The wife and I went for a drive in the Demon. Yep, we did, but NO pictures!! Only proof is the roughly 4 gal of gas used! About a 25 mile round trip ride. Good fun driving this raucous car, especially when you pull up next to another car with the hood a-shakin' and all. And like @DrCharles, tough to let this dog eat on the street as things can come up in a hurry. But good clean fun, these old relics are!!

Sounds great... I think I used about 7 gallons for the 68 mile round trip, but I only have a 10 gal fuel cell :) Your mileage is worse than mine!

Mine has a 12 gallon cell so I have to keep an eye on it. 4.56 axle. Yep, pretty bad FE. This is my first low 11 sec car so nothing to compare to in my past. But I didn't build it for FE and truly don't care...just so I don't run out of gas!!! (Actually, never intended to drive it on the street but a 408 is just too happy and rambunctious to only drive at the track. At least that's what my wife tells me! I plan to have her driving it soon.)

I am going to have to drive faster. I just checked my mileage. 156 miles 10.2 gallons. 15 mpg. That is with a 512 ci in a 1973 scamp. No burnouts were involved. no racing.
