I was laid off from Millwright work for 13 months straight, had two kids, divorced, heart attack, coronavirus, etc and never missed attending and racing during a race season. 2021 is my first and easier than I ever dreamed possible. My Duster has sat untouched for weeks at a time during the season and is about 6 hours from being race ready. Usually I would be loaded up ready to head to Norwalk Ohio for 8 days for the Halloween Classic. Entries closed at noon today and I slept on entering and heading out Wednesday but decided against it. Now I’ll sit back and see how bad it hurts. The door is still open for some test n tunes if my heart changes.

I’m not a very good spectator. I love when my son is racing his car or even mine but his has been sitting for coming up on 4 years. He’s driving my buddy’s dragster out there on Sunday.

I hear ya but any day @ the track is better than being at the house
[thinking about being @ the track] plus your track buddies would enjoy seeing you .

Damn, sounds like a pretty rough year for you. I also think you should go even if you don't race. As 1Badcolt said, even if it's just to go there and hang out with some of your friends. That alone may do you some good. I hope you would at least consider it, racing is your passion just being amongst fellow racers would help. 65'

Just take it easy for a while. Nothing wrong with that. Go fishin or somethin.

Big Mopar only event next weekend in London, Ky John.
Test and tune plus gamblers race Friday.
Separate races both Saturday and Sunday.
I am going, little closer for you than it is me

No like I said I may hit a test n tune just to know the car is ready to go when I want to go racing. I have a physical and mental thing going on. Coronavirus and that urinary trac infection I had knocked the wind out of my sails. A lot of the days I knew physically a day of racing would do me in. Mentally I’m finally realizing I can’t do what I used to do. I’m going to try to finish a few jobs I have and sell off some heads and Parts I have laying around.

I hadn't realised I have made at least one "Slant Six" race every year since I started in 2001, except for this year. If I get my truck ready in time, I will be going to the Mopar meet in London, Ky next weekend. Last Slant Six race of the year. I think it is about 800 miles one way for me. Will be taking my 66 Valiant with the nitrous 170 engine

I like the idea of forging ahead on the car and getting it race ready...... then hit up a tnt or two.
Then you’ll be ready to roll next season.

Sorry to here your not up and running.
I gave up on long range shooting events due to neck issues.
Heads for sale? interesting

Man that sounds like a pretty rough stretch to me. Try to find pleasure in the little things and maybe step away from the norm for a while. You probably know all of this but just trying to help.

I appreciate it guys and it’s something I gotta work on because it’s affecting other things I enjoy. I bought a fishing license and never went fishing and bought a couple guns and never shot them yet. I belong to Planet Fitness but with coronavirus I’m afraid to go and I know it’s needed. Hopefully over the winter things will change.

I understand how it can all add up to a lot of hurt! All of it.
I have realized I have got to the age where I just can't do all I am used to doing.
Other day was an 8- 9 hour road trip. My *** and legs still ache. My brain and eye balls too.

We are pulling for you to get back in the seat and have a "whole lotta fun " . Go make that Test N Tune.

I feel your pain.
I am 66, waited way to long to have hip replacement. They said my back was fused to my hip regards scar tissue when they were in there.
Hip is great now, back sucks..lol
Gonna see a chiropractor after my last outing down in Kentucky next week see if it will help. Hurts to stand/ walk any extended period of time

Man that stinks but hopefully it will come around. I think a lot of us are getting at an age where number one we should drop a few pounds. And number two get more active. I
Know I feel so much better when I walk 2-3 miles and cut out bad carbs.

^^^ I agree, at 73 I know I feel a whole lot better when I am active all or most of the day. I can go all day, but getting up off the ground is so darn difficult. Driving any time hurts my right leg and hip (my best side).
I got hit head on by an 85 mph drunk in a big Lincoln back in the mid 70s when I was in my mid twenties. I shattered a knee cap and cut the tendons into. It took a year before I could bend that leg enough to squat ( for a few seconds). I was pulling a gooseneck with a tractor and such and had that weight on my side I guess. I also think God said it just was not my time to go.
Bottom line is I have always felt the best in my life the physically harder I worked each day. Still that way. That triple bypass 4 years ago took some wind out of my sails maybe?
I still thank Jesus Christ for another day every nite and say I look forward to another!

I told my church community group I can be at my lowest of lows but I get up Sunday morning, take a shower, and go to church. The second I walk in the door I start to smile. 6 years ago I wouldn’t have even considered doing this and now I love it.

right there with you. Wife leaves way before me on Sunday mornings as she plays keyboards in the church and they now practice before service( used to be Fri nights)

Isn't that where you got the coronavirus?..
