My car has what appears to be an altered air cleaner housing. Would someone please post an image of a correct 1968 air cleaner housing.

black instead of orange and no corrugated pipe sticking out. looks like they added the extension to also add the heated air off of the exhaust to supposedly help with cold starts. Ive had some engines with it, most I have had that tube that goes to the exhaust gets lost, deteriorated, etc and I notice no difference,

me.... pics posted online.... rarely can do. I occasionally get it, but then forget how I was able to the next time. I actually have one here, not sure which year '60s /6 it came off of...

It looks like your car has the original air cleaner assy but it has been modified with the added corrugated pipe. If that was an attempt to get cooler air to the carb it's a failure. The entire bottom of the upper housing is open to ambient atmosphere and air will take the path of least resistance. Right above the hot intake and exhaust manifolds.

Anyway, you are looking for the same one you have but not altered. And it will be black. My 64 has the same one but does not have the nipple for the hose from the oil fill cap. Pictures are from a 1968 factory service manual.

Go to the WANTED section and start a thread. Just guessing on my part but a 67-69 should be the same.

Thx Gents. I've never seen an air cleaner without a side air entry. I noticed the that the bottom of the air cleaner was not sealed, but it didn't seem to offer enough area to allow proper air flow. Now I know it does just that!
I've only had my Dart for a few days, but thanks to the forum I've already identified a local guy who deals in used Dart parts. I've already been in touch, and I'm going to see him next week.

Yup that's early to mid 70s.
Note that if you want to swap out the 1 barrel your existing air cleaner won't work anyway, as the throat on any 2 bbl or 4 bbl will be bigger.
I have one here that says "CHARGER 225" that I wanted to use but unless I modify the base or make a different one I can't use since I am going to a BBD.
