Stopped by Summit Racing on the way home from work last night. Picked up his "New Hemi Engines" "How to Build Max Performance". Has anyone else? I figured its Larry Shepard and $18.99, couldn't go wrong. oh and a Demon.

I love and respect Larry Shepherd's work and literature. But that being said I find sometimes his books are more overviews and specifications more than applied and results, I have not read that illustration but have read his a motor manual and six pack manual they have helped me a lot sometimes I just wish would have more tuning information and track results

Sweet. Larry has been around a long time. Lots of good info rpm even back in the 70s. I talked to him a few times in the early 80s when I was building a few 340s. Demons are nice carbs. Kim

I figure Larrys book is a good starting point if i ever build a hemi.

Demon went on easy, turn in the idle screws about a full turn. Snappy throttle response. I have a Mopar Performance M1 dual plane. Had to notch the choke cup for the linkage to swing. I also thinned the center divider to ensure the goggle valve had clearance to swing. I dont think i needed to do that though. Looking through the threads now to see how members ran their 12v for the choke.

I have this book. I would agree with K.O. in that it's more of an overview and explanation on how these things work. I do really like it because of having all the sequences and torque specs right there in one book.
