Now that I look at the grille that was on the '65 Formula S when I purchased it, I can see it was originally all gold color. Someone along the way painted it black. Since my vehicle was white from the factory, the grille I have now must be from another car.
I don't have any gold paint lying around. Mis-spoke, I do have some white around here somewhere. However, I'm just going to use the SEM trim black I have on hand and be done with it (for now). Photos are as it looks before paint and after a few broken louvers were repaired. I will not try to straighten out the "wavy" louvers.

I know I'm right....
I'd not paint it white (on white) I personally think it looks better grill black on a white car, and most other 65's. @clifcuda65 white 65 is about as original as they get body wise and his looks great black.
Very nice looking Barracuda. Now if he'd just paint that center grille body color. . . .

Uh, Mr 65 Cuda 340, My center Body Grill " is " now Body Color ... pishta photo of my car was from years ago when I wanted to be "different" ... till every one here in Phoenix copied me and painted theirs Black... is when I corrected mine Back to Body color several years ago !!!
Besides, I have still the Black center Grill hanging on my garage wall... as a spare... 2nd photo circled in Red... takes only a few minutes to change out if my ` cuda wants the black nose makeup... lol

I had mine powdercoated chrome. Powder is made by Prisimatic Powders and the color is called Super Chrome
One of my best friends asked my why I painted my center grille red. I told him the center grille was supposed to be body color. His Dad (long gone now) agreed. I really don't know why almost 60 years after the fact some people think that looks funny. No one thought that back in the day.
