Went up to mid mi motorplex for likely last outing of the season.
First time run, i got in the brakes after the finish line, car made a hard left for the wall, got it straightened out, got in the brakes again, same thing, yanked the wheel left.
Got it slowed down, didnt notice it doing it trying the pedal going slow back to the pits.
Didnt have a jack with me, loaded it on the trailer, called it a night.
Man, sure wanted to race…
Guessing a caliper hanging up in the front?
Wilwood fronts, stock drums in back, no issues prior to this.

Glad you're safe!!
Like I tell "all" my costumers.. it always works fine, till it doesn't...

Wow Don...sure glad you and the car are safe and OK. That must have been quite a scare given how fast your car is and no such previous issues. Let us know what you find!

A caliper hanging up will cause a pull in that direction when "not breaking". A caliper not working or a hose collapsed will cause a pull when braking towards the side on the caliper that does work.

so, i should be looking for the issue on the right side..line/ caliper?

first time i had moved the car, done anything with it since the 8 hour tow home from Moparty in Bowling Green the previous week. Quite a few extremely bumpy spots towing home

On the front, it will turn into the side that is applying the higher level of pressure or clamping force so it sounds like you may have a sticking piston on the right side that isn't moving correctly.

I had a rear axle seal leak that did the same thing, 100 MPH and as soon as I touched the brake right it went. I was really surprised that it was only about a 1/16" of fluid on the inside edge of the shoe that made it pull that hard. I got lucky and did not hit anything but had to clean out my pants.

Well a caliper hanging can cause the pads on that side to overheat and either increase (metallic) or fade the brake on that side depending on the type of pad

Don't discount a tire going down

tires were fine. Exactly as i checked them before the run

If it still was pulling to the left after you got off the brakes than the Left side could be hanging up, but since it sounds like it didn't pull left until you hit the brakes I'd suspect the Right side may not be working properly.

yea, was fine until i hit the brakes at speed

Glad you got out of there safe Don. Bummer to end the year on a sour note but sometimes that’s how it goes. At least you didn’t scratch that beautiful car.

Were you ever able to determine what may have caused the problem?

looked everything over really good. Found nothing. Took it out on the street, couldn't duplicate it.
Think it was something i got on my tires on the track

I sure hope that was it. 10 sec car on the street...must have been fun trying to find a spot to check that out!! I know I struggled resolving a hesitation I had - things happen quickly!!
Good luck in your next outing in that gorgeous hotrod!!

rotor contamination that burned itself off? Leaking piston? I remember front drum brakes......go through a deep puddle and apply with caution! Feather them if possible then brake.

Thanks bud, real good buddy owns a service shop. Put it on a lift there the other night and checked it out.
Everything looked good, took it on the road got going 70 or 80 or so, let go of the wheel and braked hard, all was good. No drag on the wheels, etc.
The wilwoods on the front have 50% +- pads left, no leaking axle seals in back, bled the brakes, virtually no air in them.
Find out this coming Weekend down in Kentucky, hopefully.

sounds like some freak thing happen, could of been something on the track, something could of hunged up,but you cant duplicate it,which means a freak thing or something is starting to give you a problem, main thing is your safe
