I have a 292 comp cam high extreme energy for a big block mopar engine.probably goin to put in a 383. was wonderin if a 750 speed demon carb double pumper be fine with the cam size and duration the cam has? Has anyone ran this setup before?

A lot of cam for a 383 if the car is heavy & has low numerical gears. I would use a factory TQ or Edel 800 AVS2. Both/either will give significantly better throttle response than a DP carb because the secondaries only cut in when the engine needs the extra airflow. Airflow with a DP is determined by the right foot & often results in a BOG.

Oh ok l see.with that cam it says need to use at least a 750 carb.the engine is in a 72 plymouth duster

That carb will be fine. Don’t let the other brand fan boys scare you off. The last thing need is a carterbrock and tuning a TQ with a cam like that is a PITA. I’ve learned a ton just reading through the tuning threads on this forum. Mattax has some very good posts with great links to read through. Spend your time doing a search for those and use that carb. You’ll be fine

Oh ok cool that's what l though it be fine to run.ill look into those posts by him.thanks for better info

I know that a 750 Mighty Demon makes a fantastic carb for a 391 stroker 318 with a Comp XE274. Your 383 will respond well to a similar carb, too.

Oh ok cool mighty demons are good carbs l hear there easier to get them to idle to engine then speed demons?

Yes, there is an idle air bleed screw that is accessed by removing the carb stud and adjusting with a screw driver. It has the same net tuning effect as drilling the throttle plates to keep the transfer slot adjustment in the "happy place" for a clean idle.
