Sitting here about 8PM "I thought" "I didn't" hear something at the door. Was that it or was it the radio turned really low? Was that a knock? No.

Then about 8:30 --8:45 I decided to "recheck" the mail again, as of course there was no delivery yesterday

So I went out and there's a couple of letters in the box + 2 egag parcels (extra batteries for the M50 Canon and a Johnson outboard manual) and two more ON THE PORCH just waiting to "walk off"

THANKS!!!! USPS!!!!

I hope to hell this 8PM crap is not gonna be a habit, but after the recent "news" it probably is!!

You are lucky you even got your parcel!
I am waiting here [ Australia ] for a parcel sent from Tenn with USPS. It went to NJ, then Miami......& then tracking said........return to sender! It gets back to Nashville....& tracking now says 'In transit'. Doesn't say where it is in transit to...
You cannot email USPS with an inquiry outside of the USA because it only accepts US address details. Apparently the boffins at USPS do not realise their organisation ships to countries other than the USA....

Well I was surprised to find out that the flat rate prices have increased. Across the board. "ALL THAT" plus the fact that the Postmaster General is pretty much promising shittier service across the board. I guess "Through rain, sleet and snow and the dark of night" and "all that ****" is dead and gone now. No, here is the quote....

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

Boy, ain't that a joke now?

To be fair, most of us Americans don't even realize there are others countries

With Christmas coming ......IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE!!!!
There isn't going to be much available to deliver, so no problem this year. I think there are going to be record numbers of gift cards this year because the merchandise is not going to be available.

The number of gift cards companies issue that are never used is staggering. I saw an article about it a while back. Think the number was almost 75% of cards are never used. So the company will sit on the funds sold as gift cards for 6 months and then recode / transfer the funds right to profit as they know the card will never be used...

My wife just found a pile of them my daughter left behind when she went to college. Checked the codes and there was $110 left on them in total. I guess I need to reinforce the value of money to my kids, no matter the form it comes in.

I don’t understand either why they put it in the mailbox at 8:30 or 9pm last night. I guess they don’t have to bring it up to the home. I thought I was going to have to remove the mailbox and cut it open after the last delivery. I had to smash the corners of the package to get it out. And guess what….that’s how they got it in.

Boffin (slang): "Boffin is a British slang term for a scientist, engineer, or other person engaged in technical or scientific research and development. ... A "boffin" was viewed by some in the regular services as odd, quirky or peculiar, though quite bright and essential to helping in the war effort. Source Google/Wikipedia

New term for my vocabulary! FABO very educasional lol.

hey hey. i think it is the one steve, kim and others are from. the one they can't get out of and we can't get in. man i want to go north and visit soooo bad. even more than i want to go to gatlingburg. hahahaha.

Postmaster General needs to be replaced and if he ran any company the way the USPS runs he'd be already out the door

You can blame that on Australia. They're not accepting any parcels from the U.S. currently. Everything shipped there is being turned around.
And yes, they understand there is more than one country on this planet, they just don't allow people outside of the US to use the online services. Kinda the same way an American can't use Aussi post.

funny true story I was in the kitchen one night last week after dark, and I was looking toward the living room and I see this head in the shadows walking up to the front porch, I reached for the revolver I have in a drawer and the wife was like "put that away its the UPS driver..." I was like 'ehh...' :)

The reality of it is, over 700,000 people have died in the US the past couple of years. Better than half of those people were in the workforce.
As people move up to fill vacancies, there is no one left to fill those lower positions.
Regardless of your opinion of legal or illegal immigrants, we need bodies to fill those lower wage jobs. I'm not going out picking lettuce or making hamburgers for minimum wage.
If there is an illegal who is willing to do it and keep costs down, what do you care where they come from.
As for the P/O, they're hurting for help. They have carriers running two routes a day. Working them 12-14 hours a day. I'm retired from the P/O as a city carrier and they sent a letter asking me to consider coming back.
No thanks!
It took me nearly 2 years to get hired on to the P/O. Now, you can walk in and be working a few days later. That's the same for other jobs as well.
My brother works for Ford. He says that they brought in over a 100 temps at the plant he works at. Cincinnati Milacron, one of the biggest milling machine producers in the world, one of the toughest jobs to get around here, has been running help wanted ads on TV here in Cincy during prime time.
All I know is that if I were thinking of opening a fast food joint or retail business, I'd take my butt down to the border and recruit as they came across the wall.

There used to be immigrants standing in front of Home depot back in the 90s. if you had a job as a contractor, say ripping a dirty slate or cedar shake roof and you didn't want to do it, you'd go down with a van or pick up and get a group of "day laborers" and pay em $3.50 an hour to rip and pick up the roof. Ive ripped cedar and slate you get covered with black sooty dust that causes heat rash when you sweat isnt fun...

And those contractors should have been fined big time
When we want to complain and point fingers at whats going on at the border, remember everyone in this country who used illegal labor
I know what getting filthy dirty is all about and heat rash I've had it so bad my inner thighs looked like raw chop meat..... No excuse for exploiting illegals and worse yet paying them **** wages

Yeah well don't shoot me I'm just telling campfire stories...

^^^ They might be illegals, but they don't work cheap anymore an most are not fearful of whatever.
The timeframe I was speaking of was pre 1995. I think that was minimum wage back then and they don't pay taxes. It may have been $3.35. I dont recall ever working for minimum wage except maybe a few years part time in high school.

I’m going to write myself a check for Christmas. I’ll address it to myself and walk across the street to my mailbox. Five minutes later go out and get it. Merry Christmas to me.

Note: If you are illegal, you work under a different set of circumstances.
The average American has one breast and one ********, and is many cases is underworked and overpaid.
