Making progress on my Demon

Getting things buttoned up under the hood.

I broke the cam in a few weeks back and have run the engine several times. I installed my inner valve springs today and did the valve adjustments on all the rocker arms. #6 and #4 spark plugs were a pain to get out and installing the air hose to pressurize those 2 cylinders were a pain as well. But I finally got it done. I'll be doing a little polishing on my valve covers tomorrow and put them back on.

I bet those plugs were a pain with those headers, they look very tight

What do you have for windshield wiper plugs
It was Lowe's or Home Depot I went to and bought 2 metal closet rod hanger end plugs. They pop right in. I got the .375 sized ones. Measure the hole to be sure but I'm fairly certain they were .375
Be sure to get the ones with the springy fingers that hold it in like in the pic.You can use some of that 3M black weatherstrip adhesive and put a thin bead around the edge of the end cap to where it seals good and gives it a little extra holding.

That looks terrific!! Same gauge I used and it was sure a son-of-a-gun to feed that pressure line up through there! I used Ni-Cu tubing and struggled but I like it now that it's done. I'm sure you will too.

I bought the Auto Meter copper tubing and run it through the windshield washer hose hole at the top of the firewall. I attached mine with three heavy duty zip ties and pulled them tight. It is anchored down fairly rigid. The supplied light that comes with the gauge doesn't put out much light. I wish they made the Sport Comp 2 fuel gauge in a liquid filled version. I had to get the standard Pro Comp to get a liquid filled gauge. My tach and my oil pressure, temperature and voltage gauges all are Sport Comp 2 gauges and all have bright LED lights, very easy to see and read at night.

You are sure correct - the lighting is below par for an AutoMeter gauge. Gauge lighting may be a winter project for me as none of mine are great.

Thank you, that was a great idea

You should try the Sport Comp 2's. The lighting and look is fantastic.

Your whole car looks fantastic! I like the gauges but I cannot get used to a 10,000 rpm "sideways" tach. Guess it's my age...
For me, a tach should have 0 at about 7:30 and 8000 rpm around 4:30. I don't have any motors that go to 10,000 rpm and the idle should not be pointing straight down. What can I say - I grew up on Sun Super-Tach 2's!! I like the shift light and memory and all, just not the 10k scaling and positioning. Oh well, I'm also the one that still thinks racing is to be done with a footbrake only car!! Put the driver back into the race!!
