2nd pass car made a badass a to b pass still short shifting under 6krpms. dragy concluded it was 5.82 pass but idk or believe it.

did a comp test tonight 5cyl are 185 and 3 back cylinders on drivers side back are 175. that could be pushrod pump up or valvetrain related perhaps? no water in the cylinders all dry plugs, seems to be ok.
did blow oil out the crank case fill on the intake. i believe this is what caused my left turn on my last pass. got oil on front runner inner sidewall of tire.
live n learn. had fun at least this time around.
Great pass! I wouldn’t get excited about 10psi difference on a cranking test. Having fun is what it’s all about!

Glad you’re finally enjoying making passes in your car. The plugs look pretty good to me but I’d love to see one cut open and get a look at the fuel ring. By your pics the timing looks pretty good, heat range looks pretty good and I might add a little fuel if it were mine, after I saw where the fuel ring is. Nice work.
fattened up a touch and a few degree taken out of it up top. kinda think the plugs could be to cold. gonna change em up from -11 to -10 and see how it does(car dies if not up to temp above 160°). with the boost controller working. i should be able to get 10psi sooner than 2.4sec into the run(again thank you big rick trunkett from big 3 racing) and probably go pretty damn quick on 10psi. im guessing 5.70s or a little quicker with a decent 60ft.
im still dicking with making my driveshaft sensor exist. ordering something different and a different collar. see if that causes it to work. cuz im out of ideas at this point for it. suggested i swap pins to my bump and see if it works there first. if i can get my fat *** under the dash again without passing out again.

did yall notice the flames coming out before it launched? haha i just notice that today. lol

nah. im used to it now. time to turn it up and work on the boost controller sife of things. as it takes 2.4 seconds into the run to get to 10psi. id like that to be a lot sooner now.

was wondering it would shoot them flames...and im mot disappointed what so ever. haha

If your heat range is close you’ll see 2-4 threads at the tip of the plug colored dark.

you can see mines not colored a few threads but the antisieze is at that same area. my biggest issues i have is getting the thing up to operstional temp before a pass. i can burn a few gallones of fuel before it even budges the needle off 140° changing to -10s and see what happens.

well since my last post. ive changed from mlsx cometic head gaskets to stock hellcat head gaskets. i wantsd to buy the oring cometics but for 509 bucks right now is a bit much at the moment. it is back together, it runs much different as in better than before i liftdd the heads. power wide it comes on much harder than previously. i ha d not been able to hit the track and tunr the co2 on yet. hopefully thks friday at mokan ill be able to rock a mid 5 or better. time and traction will tell.
still has a **** tip in throttle issue. prolly should **** it a bit to resolve but im almost certain its cold *** blooded. as i still havr trouble getting a ove 140-160° even with the fan turn off and just moving water. drove the ******* thing all over town for a solid 20-30minutes witbout the fan running. never crested 160° with 90° abient air....grrr
gotta fix some exhaust leaks though at the vbands. stupid cold air pop im struggling to completely eliminate.
also got me a new crew chief to do the dirty work...he spent hours on the car with me to get it down. made ALL of my frustrations and anger just evaperate when he started getting into it.

so about 3 years ago i might of been onto something. i have given up for this year now. no local track to test at. im outta tires and money. going to be replacing the stock coils with holleys over winter. probably valve springs as well, im officially burnt the f out. hope it sells cuz im exhaust of it. 1 man show isnt so easy anymore. i have little to no support locally. just wish i was around family more who would help me out with this. no idea why i cant get **** right and it running hard. 1 stsp corward 2 steps back sorta feelings. maybe god just doesnt want this for me and i have to accept it isnt going to be.

yea another set of pistons shipped yesturday. not the update i was looking for either but is what it is now. be a few more weeks before engine is assembled.
kinda how this build continually goes. makes one wonder just how messed up its entire running life is gonna be at this rate.

Runnin 5s and making the kind of power you are ain’t all snowflakes and unicorns. As you’ve found out. Why don’t you back it down a little and run a little slower and keep it reliable? Might take some of the stress out of the whole game for you. You’ve come a very long way in this process and I (and I’m sure others here) would hate to see you throw in the towel after getting this far.

Totally agree with 5.9. I know how frustrating it can be to perfect a combo, let alone chase a number at the same time. Sometimes it's good to step away for a bit and just breathe. You've come a long ways on this project, and done an amazing job!!

It’s definitely not for the feint of heart! I’ve had several milkshakes in the oil pan, water leaks, lifted the heads, had it in and out 4 times, and starved it for oil on the first pass of drag week. I did get a 5.75 slip in a 4000lb car though! Hopefully next year is a better year!

Bad ***

Echo what those guys are saying. Maybe I'm a terrible gearhead, but I would rather spend time driving than fixing the stuff every week. That said, my car is also slow as a result lol. All of us are hoping to see this thing get dialed in, but maybe dialing back some in hopes of simplifying may be a way to go. And yeah, stepping away to take a break is good. I covered my car essentially for 3 years at one point just because I had no desire (or money lol) to mess with anything. Hang in there man.

It’s October and I’ve never hit the track this year YET. That’s a first in over 47 years. Hope I will hit a test n turn or two to see if my new engine, transmission, and converter work ok.

Just breathe don't be impulsive and miss the car later. I got a big project ahead me but your car is bad *** machine! It's pushing the envelope and with that things can break. Dial it back a bit and enjoy what you created.

thats the biggest frustrating thing about it all. i can not dial it back anymore than it is. its only ran on the smallest lightest spring in the gates. used the boost co troller one time only. ran 5.82 spinning, on and off the throttle and lifting completely at about 400ft. im tired of chasing the constant ignition sputter or die. ive added grounds as suggested, change sensors and timing and ....you name it ive probably done it. im at a stand still at accepting my defeat. i have nobody locql to help or give insight. its like im a threat that hasnt even begun to compete yet. this winter if it dont sell(not pushing said sale). im gonna swap to smart coils, do some extra crank venting(its an issue), go to slicks over radial, take it outta state and do some private rental and pro tuning. spring come out im going for the throats. that pro ball player competitiveness has started to bubble outta me these last few months. wifes been getting weary of my aggressiveness behavior towards the car planning. i think shes getting excited as i am about it all. we shall see how it all goes.

sooo today was eventful. went for a little drive around the neighborhood. laptop open and connected so i could do some off idle learn and adjustments. i hit the bump button by accident while watching the laptop screen. low and behold my driveshaft sensor lit up snd started showing mph on the screen. apparently its powered on the wrong side of the power tap and bump button is the switched power to it. lmmfao. at last i have finally found that bs fix. last of all the i/o's not working solved.
noe just foguring out wtf it still sputters out sync errors randomly. im putting the car up for the winter and doing some deep cleaning, leal fixing, ground wire adding, smart coil getting repairs. then off to some late winter/early spring dyno tuning and track attacking 2022. if the world dont collapse by then. im gonna be something to recon with for sure.

“If the world don’t collapse by then” lol no kidding. Do I buy new heads or do I stock up on food in case the economy tanks? You can run faster with better heads. And you only gain weight with more food. Car parts it is!

glad i dont need heads but them smart coils aint cheap either. haha

BIG NEWS....the mother f-in holley 220 build firmware update...fixed EVERYTHING!! my ignition issues are history, popping, sync errors, everything is gone. car runs like a mother f'er. i say that as i just ran some taco take out. ran one of the baddest small tire racers in the country. had him by a car till i spun and shitted into neutral bpassing 2nd all together.

i had the car sold pretty much to 2 different people this week but declined both offers on friday. as that is when i put in the new 220 firmware and made test hits yesturday. 4 in a row and 1 an hour later. wanted to make sure it wasnt a fluke. it AINT!
got a little pep in my step and feeling amazing about it all now.

i will say the issues i had and even after sending my ecu off for inspection to holley. it really leaves me with distain and frustrating anger with it all. that this issue was known all along and took 14 months to fix it. lots of big name guys blew much more expensive engine up over it. i was much luckier than they was. so even in all that bad. my outlook is positive now. that i was only being saved by the grace of God that i didnt lose my engine over this.

winter updates still gonna happen but now i maybe able to hit another race. if im able to acquire some new radial pros. we now have a low 5sec ride now. thats all im saying. et's are gonna be few an far between unless i get that FOUR. im gonna sing to the world on that. hahaha

Kudos!!! I grew to totally distain Accel products, and Holley and Accel are now the same company. I would shy away from Holley simply because they are under the same corporate umbrella as Accel. Apparently my apprehensions are still justified after all these years. That said, I know the feeling you must be enjoying. Well done, and congrats for sticking with it. Quietly I really didn't want to see you sell the car, there's too much of "YOU" built in.

I am glad it is fixed. I am even happier to hear it is not being sold. Good luck and keep plugging sir. Things will work out.

Awesome news, bud!! Can't wait to see that thing put a hurtin on em!!!

YEEEEEESSSSSSSSS! So awesome! Super pumped. God’s grace is also awesome. Happy for you man it’s exciting to hear this.
