Another manual steering box question

If it feels rough when you turn the input shaft, I'd pull the box apart and find out why. It's pretty easy to do, especially the bushed box. Wash everything up real good in solvent and inspect all wear surfaces. If it needs bushings, that may be a problem and cost you. Bearings and seals are fairly easy to find, but, changing out a worm gear race isn't all that easy to do without a special puller. Worm gear assemblies are available, but, not cheap either. Sector shafts are a bit harder to find and are also relatively expensive. If you're careful pulling the top cap off, you can even save the gasket most of the time. If not, it's no big deal to make or just add some sealer to it. I pack all mine full with a good quality moly grease. 90w leaks out too easily. Follow the factory manual on the adjustments.
